Also, with their blatant cheating scheme and ability to change their stories to fit, you could have tracked them on the tracker as "running", gone up to the RV and seen RY sleeping in the RV, and they'd STILL make up some story to fit.

Or followed him for days secretly and witnessed him stepping in and out of RV during "runs" and they'd STILL make up stories.

Pitiful.

I'm a longtime media and public relations professional. I could pull and condense this into a press release and send to the right folks, but it wouldn't (and shouldn't) be immediately. Racer Girl is correct that the UK media is focused on other matters right now, and rightfully so.

My recommendation - given that media typically need to have a timely hook - is to hold off outreach until Rob either 1) completes the trek, as doubler indicated or 2) officially quits and offers up some kind of excuse for doing so. It will have a much better chance of registering at a time where there is an actionable item.

We'd also want to target specific journalists, both UK and US, not general news inboxes. Those tend to be dark holes for press releases.

It will be vital to do it right if Rob ends up "finishing." Even if the WR is out of reach, don't forget he had sub goals of being the fastest Brit and European to do the TransCon. We've all seen how he has gone about about finding and adding unverified running accomplishments to his resume. My guess is that securing those two bullet points are now the end game.

Good questions. This needs highlighting and had not been discussed. CoachKev and Andy supposedly ran with RY for the last 80 or so miles of that run. But RY's mile sprints to sub-7 after over 300 miles in (on Kev's video) makes the opening 200 miles very dubious. RY was wasted at the end of his long runs in Illinois and Indiana that were under the watchful eye of the ultra guys. No sprints at the end of those. Amazing how he could do that after 300 miles in his alleged non-stop run.

So he's not just your co-worker in the next cubicle who cut the course at the local Turkey Trot. He was making himself out to be a running mega star.

I think playing the slow game is the best strategy. Let the crossing finish and let some more info come in and a full case of evidence against him be built. Then this goes viral the same way in which he pushed himself into the media spotllght. The more I read about this bloke, the more I have nothing but absolute comtempt for him.

I'm looking into the charity stuff right now and thinking there could well be a case for actual fraud against this guy. I think a few months in the slammer would do Rob good to actually think about what he has done here.

This is not just a Rossi who cheated to a faster marathon PR, Rob Young has conned good people out of money under a false pretence in the name of raising money for charity. He is scum and utterly shamless.

I thought someone looked into it and they were legit charities. I think the "for the children" thing gives an altruistic spin to what he's doing that allows him to make a full-time gig out of what is a hobby for the rest of us, but that's not the same as saying it's all a sham and he's getting rich off of it.

Focus on the running, that's the story. What the charities are doing and if he's a good dad or not are not the story.

East Sheen is a fairly well-to-do suburb of London. Mostly home to London workers who've got plenty of cash and full of yummy-mummy types doing the school run in 4X4s dressed in sports gear ready to go for a run/yoga/gym and then meet for a coffee with other mums in one of the area's many coffee shops or nice pubs. House prices are extortionate - East Sheen shopping area is mainly estate agents, nice coffee shops, boutique clothes and homewares plus a few 'high street' chains, banks and middle-class supermarket "waitrose'. Oh and Sheen Sports - which I think is where RY worked after quitting his full time job. Also Up and Running shop - big supporters of RY.

Richmond Park and the Thames towpath are half a mile away, so on a weekend it looks like everyone from the surrounding area descends to run/cycle/walk etc.

Generally it's a pretty quiet place where not much happens

I do NOT know Dustin Brooks or any of the other people that have been mentioned on this thread. As I don't have kids (seemingly unlike 90% of the other residents of East Sheen), I probably don't mix in the same circles as RY and Co, you know schools and stuff, where the 'kids' are!

One of the charities he is running for, was the organizer of his last TransCon.

There is no reason not to focus on the financial aspect.

I am also wondering how he could claim he ran one marathon a day, because some stages of the TransCon were less than 26 miles:

One of the news articles said something about RY's financial struggles. Rent. Support of family. Don't remember details. But that is very telling when he has made numerous trips to the US in the past couple years and has lived here for months and months doing his race stuff. Flights to/from London in April 2015. From/to London for this transcon. The Rv. Hotels. Food. Tech equipment. Someone could check his race schedule and results and see how many flights across the pond he's been making. Those aren't cheap. Follow the money.

He claims 96 marathon victories. Many of those came in the transcon stage race. It'd be interesting to add them up and see how much of the 96 is an exaggeration too.

Definitely worth taking a look at the claims on his own website, and get screenshots of them before he takes the opportunity to adjust his site.

Don't spend a lot of time disproving what is listed in wiki. He can always claim that he's not the one who put that stuff out on that page. In fact, when it comes to the famous cycling photo that turns out to be of someone else, I think his defense is that he didn't post it in the first place.

Way early in this thread, I think people were looking at the sources of various edits and the commonalities between the authors. If someone decides to spend the time debunking wiki anyway, just be ready to go under the hood and see if lots of the misinformation sources back to the same accounts.
