The guy runs busy races with a huge pole on his hand, it should not be allowed
Well..it isn't allowed. I remember Sage Canaday saying he wanted to run Houston with a selfie stick but since it wasn't allowed he didn't. Kofuzi probably knows this as well but just doesn't care.
A couple of years ago Kofuzi admitted in an interview with the Serious Runner that he is fully aware of the selfie stick rules but will continue to carry one until he is caught by race officials.
I think Kofuzi is a scumbag and it is a disgrace to the marathon world that he is a face of the sport. Same goes for that Choi guy.
Nick Bester is currently complaining he came second to someone racing in the Prime X Strung 3 due to it being illegal in WA races while not running a race using those rules.
it also weighs 100g more and the race was a 10K. Maybe it wasn’t the shoes.
And holding a poll on his Instagram to vote on whether it should have been be allowed. Someone who pointed out that this is bitter, bullying behaviour, is being told that he's "just putting it out there to see what others feel." Nasty work.
As much as it pains me I think broberg will run well at Chicago. Overcooking workouts isn’t new for him, and doesn’t seem to impact him too much. He’s running way more mileage than before and seems to be keeping it to a sensible pace.
Whatever happens, it’ll be (moderately) interesting. If 90mpw gets him sub 2:30, it’s definitely going to send him on a journey of ever higher weekly volume in search of sub elite status. If he fails again, there’s going to be some serious self reflection.
i think he could get 2:30, especially if the weather stays nice and mild. I will say, people (including Floberg, I think) underestimate how hard it is just to maintain a PR when you’re on the very thin edge of your training and capability. Just because you’ve run a 2:34 before doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to do it again - each marathon is a mental and physical battle, and the closer you are to your limits (and I suspect Floberg is pretty close) the tougher it is to mentally get yourself to the point where you want to suffer for 2 and a half hours.
that’s where I’ll actually give Floberg some credit vs some other YouTubers (cough, Kofuzi) who hit a goal one time and then just give up mentally. Floberg’s out there giving it his all, sweaty sheets be damned.
I agree. I don't like Floberg or his video styling but he is putting in the work, probably to the detriment of his family/marriage, but there you go.
If he hits 2:31, which is still a good effort, will he double down on high mileage and average 100 miles a week?
It's all about diminishing returns, would I rather run for 12/13 hours a week for a 2:29 or 9/10 hours a week for a 2:32?
Mileage may not even work for him. He may actually need lower mileage and 2 or 3 workouts a week. Maybe NSA is the future for the big man?
I'm sure from the picture I saw the guy was wearing a pair of 2 year old, battered Prime X OGs. It wasn't like he had a brand new prototype pair on
He thinks because he gets them sent out for free (along with his power ranger suits) to wear for 50 miles before the next set arrives, that everyone else must be running in brand new fresh shoes as well. If he's searching for the person in this poky local race with an unfair advantage he would do better to look in the mirror.

Thanks for the feedback. As it turned out there wasn't much of a race with John this time as fortunately for me I got ahead straight away and was almost a minute ahead by the end. It would be nice to think that a lot of viewers won't already have a clue what time I did and care enough to sit through a long video to find out but the reality I tend to find is that it isn't really the case. You soon learn with YouTube that whatever you do most won't get past half way and a lot will click off very quickly. So I figured in this style of video I would more relate what I was thinking as the race went along as otherwise POV footage is next to useless as you see everybody bar yourself and anyway in this I was very much a mid packer. In fact in my long "career" as a runner I can't remember any time I finished in the bottom half of a large road race yet still was doing what I thought for me was a decent time. You seem to imply that the only reason to watch my video was to find out my time and whether I beat John? In that sense my summary intro kind of worked as I told you this without 5 mins of coffee drinking at home, 5 mins footage of the drive there and 5 mins warming up as often seems to happen in some race vlogs. My average view time for this video was just under 10 mins with 3K views. For me that is actually quite good. If I made a 10 min vid of the race, I would probably would get about the same views but more like 5 mins watch time. But yeah I am a bit of a midpacker at YouTube so maybe another time I try and keep you all waiting and see if it does "better"...
Another tip that might help with boosting the fanbase from letsrun...

You going to back that claim up with any evidence buddy? Maybe send a link to the rules of a busy marathon Kofuzi has run with a selfie stick and then point out where in said rules its stipulated that its not allowed.
I'm not saying you're wrong but I'm also not just going to blindly believe you either
Here's a quote from the Houston Marathon race guidelines: "The use of selfie sticks is prohibited for your safety and the safety of those around you." There you go.

Thanks for reading- when it comes to race footage, I suppose I feel it is enhanced with an element of suspense. Will the runner achieve what they set out to achieve? This can be very low stakes and can still be fun (e.g. 'can I stick with the leaders til halfway?', 'can I get a course pb', 'can I beat the canicross dog', etc). Crown My Run and MARM seem to have this element in their race footage, whether it's chasing a pb, one brother beating the other, a post-injury pb, age group win, or simply aiming for top 10/top 20, etc.
Again, it's your channel so your choice, but if those other channels said at the start "J Mills beats D Mills in a time of 18:15" then, although the video and commentary would no doubt still be entertaining- the race footage itself would lose any sense of fun jeopardy, the 'play-by-play' element of the commentary would lose its purpose, and I'd probably be messaging them with the same complaint.
Bester, the man that is very likely on PEDs, complaining about glorified long run shoe that's technically illegal, that in reality probably a fair bit slower than a normal supershoe, especially for a 10K. I would even say you're at disadvantage wearing those.
Not to mention when he raced some parkruns (if I remember correctly) in Evos that very few can get their hands on.
I'm not watching Kofuzi's video. Did he get a special ceremony when they gave him his seventh star after getting a free bib like in NY? These leeches should have an asterisk next to their name.

It’s okay, he’ll maintain his relationships by filming weekly “check ins” with his wife and playing ring around the rosy in the yard with his six kids before retreating up to the tree for “tree time”

In Tim's defence we all try different ways of storytelling in our videos. This time instead of beginning, middle then end we have snapshot of end then beginning, middle and post-end.
This will work for some people and not others. Fair enough.
I agree that in Crown My Run you have that element of suspense until often the final 100 yards of a race. He does that superbly.
However other channels have a different focus. I think there's one race / parkrun this year where I've had a 'will I won't I' right to the end (complete with death coughs). In others,.as with Tim's Mid Cheshire vlog, you learn about the course profile from a full PoV, his race execution on a race of three thirds, how other runners around him tackled it. So well worth the watch from those angles.
Also the rest of his content beyond the race vlogs is tremendously varied and insightful. So get yourself subbed 😉
Most of us are keen amateur runners and (I hope) competent video creators so it's interesting to see what some like and don't like.
The failed attempt at Nolan’s 14s must have broken the OG. He’s been MiA for nearly a month and it will take a long time to claw back into the YouTube algorithm and monetization of videos.
Is he placing the whole entire fate of DGR on Pikes? Is he some kind of full time day trader now? Is DGR just out of business?
In my mind Nick Bester has officially claimed the crown for most insufferable runner on YouTube. I thought prime Seth JD was peak cringe, but apparently not.
I had a video pop up where he deliberately starts last at Parkrun just to steamroll through everyone to the front. At a real race, fine, whatever — people have paid to be there. But at a community Parkrun, where plenty of people are just starting their fitness journey? That’s straight-up egotistical, borderline maniac behaviour. No consideration for anyone else, just a big look at me stunt. Imagine getting into running for the first time just to have this prick sprint past you. How crap would that make you feel? That is not the sort of figure we need in this sport. Honestly, it made me feel nauseous.
Those start last, try to finish first parkrun videos do seem very popular for some reason. Have seen one video from another somewhat less "famous" YouTuber that has got over 400K views and the one in question (and a 2nd one) did very well too. Anyway if you go to a multi lapper like Egham Orbit as I did the other week you get to do this anyway even starting "regularly" and being somewhat off the very front. I was kind of relieved did not bump into anybody.
As a repeated critic of Floberg’s training I have to say I’m impressed with his past few weeks. I would’ve expected this if he had done a better job in the late spring / early summer with base building. But he’s gotten to this fitness regardless. The body composition change is real. That workout looked smooth. These are numbers he used to only do on a treadmill but now he can do it outdoors. He is fit and has a great shot at a PR and sub 2:30 imo.
My own training has hit some bumps so while I previously thought I’d easily beat him in Chicago, I’m not so sure now. I don’t want to insert myself in his storyline but I also think it’s fair to acknowledge and congratulate him if he does beat me after I’ve repeatedly criticized him (assuming he is actually reading this thread). So I’m committing now to simply report if he beats me in Chicago and not insert myself any further.
But take a shower after your doubles.
I’ll also be racing CIM so I can do the Floberg + Truett Hanes sub 2:30 double whammy challenge.
