Rojo/Wejo I don’t know if you’re still reading this, but just in case…
For a while, I thought the moderators were primarily responsible for the chaotic, inconsistent, and oppressive moderation on the site. I’ve changed my mind. Respectfully, the problem is primarily you, Rojo and Wejo. Please understand I am not saying this in an angry or accusatory way.
You ask the moderators to do the impossible. From what I can tell, you basically order the moderators to delete any post or thread that is offensive according to some vague guidelines. This is an impossible task, as there is clearly zero agreement between moderators as to what is offensive, and what isn’t. Leftist moderators remove conservative posts. Conservative moderators remove progressive posts.
This is why a thread discussing the vice presidential pick is removed almost immediately, while a thread suggesting that JD Vance is a closet homosexual is allowed to stay up for hours. I got banned for three days for saying something not obscene, threatening or critical, but merely silly. Meanwhile, others who are continually profane and abusive are allowed to post day after day. Posts critical of some runners are mysteriously removed, while others remain. There’s no rhyme or reason to it. Like I said, you ask the moderators to do the impossible. There is simply no agreement on what is politically and socially offensive. In our day and age, I doubt that is even possible.
The solution is one that a lot of people won’t like. Instruct moderators to remove posts within a very narrow category. Posts that are threatening, doxxing, pornographic, use racist terms, or are critical of high school runners. That’s it. Explain that it is not your job to delete each and every post that someone, somewhere won’t like. Explain that people who are easily offended should find somewhere else to surf.
Yes, that means a lot of trolling will remain. So what? The trolls are outnumbered by real running threads, and always have been.
I took a break from the site for several days. I came back and replied to three different threads. One of my responses took about 15 minutes to craft. All of those threads were deleted. Frankly, it isn’t worth peoples time to commit to serious discussion. The moderation is just too much.
I hope you give real consideration to these words. I’m sorry this post was so long.
Aren't you also asking the moderators to do the impossible?
I don’t think so. I think my vision is to severely narrow the types of posts that will be addressed by the moderators. And make it clear to everyone that this means they are going to see things they may not like. People may have a political view that others don’t like, or they may be critical of a professional athlete who someone else enjoys. Explain upfront what you will find here. User beware. If we only want to be around people we agree with, there are plenty of sites that fit that description for most sides of the social and political aisle.
I think what we have now is unworkable, for all the reasons I stated above. You can see how angry people are on this thread.
All of the "moderation policies" are best understood in the context of evaluating the market value of this web site. LRC will be monetized within a year, and the brojos will be out of the picture.
Since 2021, Operation Lone Star has: Transported over 119,400 migrants to sanctuary cities Apprehended over 516,600 illegal immigrants Arrested over 45,500 criminals Seized over HALF A BILLION fentanyl doses Texas holds the line against the Biden-Harris border crisis.

Apparently this post, copying & pasting his exact tweet, was "discriminatory or bigoted". How?
And yes, that was it. All I posted was the full text of the tweet. I don't get why it was deleted in the first place as it's the Kamala thread (i.e. unlike actual running threads, discussing other relevant political issues, especailly for the 'border czar' is still basically on topic), let alone claiming it's a bannable post.

That is just unbelievable. Rojo and Wejo, can you address this?
The new moderation policy is to remove any content that questions Trump. Want to start a conversation on immigration, or ask Trump Republicans why a border security bill was stalled this past spring? Too bad
Feel free to spread misinformation about Kamala sleeping around tho, that’s totally fair
I had a thread on a Trump speech. Get deleted almost immediately. And I am not even a Trump voter! Plenty of other conservative, posters on here I’ve had their post deleted.
Please understand, I do not doubt that anti-Trump posts get deleted. I am just saying that there is no consistency in the moderation.
And if you look at my earlier post on this thread, I think it is pointless to expect consistency. Instead of striving to delete more, I think LRC should streamline its moderation to a handful of issues, do those well, and leave the rest. People who come here need to understand that they are going to see things. They might disagree with. That used to be OK. It should be again.

This is so dumb. You think LRC has an anti-conservative bias? Have you seen anything the Brojos have ever posted, ever? Those white-bread ass goons are borderline Jesse Helms cosplayers with their politics.
It's like the NYT. People think they have a liberal bias. Why? Because when Trump tells a lie, they report that he was lying?

Well, I’m not going to get into a political debate because this thread is about other things. But yes, I 100% believe that some moderators have an anti-Trump, anti-conservative bias. Not all, probably not most. But there is no pro-Trump conspiracy to eliminate liberalism on LRC, I can assure you.
Earlier today, wrote a post that included a link to help prove my point. Elaborated on what I thought. Clicked “post” only to discover that the thread had been deleted.
Mikeh, what happened to your standing meeting with Rojo to address our concerns?
You’re essentially the only one Rojo will listen to regarding the nasty state of moderation affairs. Please get back on his calendar in the next few days and get this crap sorted. We’ve had enough.

Frustrating.
Which thread was that?
I’m guessing it wasn’t a running related thread.
So much stupid unnecessary political trolling on a running website!
“Why does Letsrun appear to be 75% conservative?” Or something like that. I attempted to respond to someone who asked for evidence that men were trending conservative. The thread was gone. The strange thing was, Rojo had already replied on it, and the moderators deleted it anyway.

The thread was indeed political. The brothers have made it clear they will allow that. In my opinion, the question the OP asked prompted interesting discussion, whether it was intended as trolling or not.
