"Waves" were not used at Grandma's Marathon in 1990 or at anytime. There are pace markers set up in the staging area and runners are on the honor system to line up according to the pace markers.

I believe the first race in the US to use chips might have been the Las Vegas Marathon in Feb 1996 as sort of a test run before the 100th Boston in 1996. Chips were definitely used for the first time at the 1996 Boston since the field was so huge. The results book from the 1996 Boston lists both net (chip) times and official times.

Now it seems that Harry Reid has gotten into the act of fibbing about his marathon prowess. You would think that he would have learned from the Ryan situation that he can't get away with it.

And what does Obama's genuine slip about 57 states or Biden's plagiarism and lies (which cost him the presidential nomination 20 years ago)have to do with blatant and deliberate lie?

54-58ish, depending on how they're counted (not kidding) -- people use different requirements for how much separation and prominence two distinct points above 14k must have to be considered separately.

Anyway, I'm as much into climbing in Colorado as I am marathoning. As far as running, I've done what Paul Ryan has lied about, and I don't care for him politically, but I don't yet believe he's lying about the Colorado 14ers, since he did seem to have some knowledge of the area and it would be a weird thing to lie about specifically (just saying you climbed "some" of the Colorado 14ers would have engendered the knowledge and respect of Colorado that he was trying to give in that interview).

But if it turns out he is lying, than I really thing he must be compulsive.

Ryan didn't cheat. He led about his pr. The first would have been much worse. The second is on par with I'll close gitmo, I never heard rev wright say anything racist, I'll reform immigration, I'll get iran and north Korea in line, I'll end the wars (scuse me could you hit that drone button over there).

Ryan deserves to be called out on hs time, which has been done. Personally, I don't have the energy or desire to call out everyone who as exaggerated their pr. Give me a whiff of a chest, though, and I'll pour through the evidence.
