Brett’s instagram bio - just his PB’s and business / podcast info. No nike . Rumours he’s left MTC
He's still in Melbourne according to Strava while most of the others seem to be at falls - apart from Jack, who is in.... Mount Beauty? Why not drive up the mountain to get some altitude benefit?
Whispers on IRP said something about a very prominent Aussie pro leaving a training group or something. I immediately thought of Stewy. Does anyone know who this might be?
Anyone got any thoughts on how we did in world cross?
Obviously stoked with the 4x2km team getting the gold and I think it shows out depth in the mile/1500. Shoutout to Jack Anstey who got the late call-up and performed well and put Jess in a position to anchor us home to victory. I don't have any strong feelings on the womens individual results.
In the men's this feels like a breakout performance for Ed Marks, and I hope he's able to prove to himself that he has the talent and potential to go far. I suppose it's a question on what event he's actually best in. We know he's a cross country beast, but outside of cross country season is he able to translate this strength to faster track or road times. I think he's way better than 7:57/13:39/28:09. Maybe needs to link up with Seth for track work.
I don't think Haftu has really justified his discretionary selection here.
I'm not saying that TDC would've placed any higher in the race, but if you apply for a disrectionary spot and forgo the trials race in order to run a marathon, only to be beaten by a 40 year old bloke who still ran the aforementioned trials race, you'd hope to perform well at world cross. Not really sure what's happened to Haftu in the second half of 2025.
I think Haftu and Seth were very disappointing, but you also don't know the full story of injuries or illness going into races. But I agree Haftu's selection was not justified by his performance.
Morgan gets a pass mark I guess.
Ky Robinson reconfirming he is the best Aussie male distance runner currently.
Relay team was strong even without Cam, girls were brilliant but also good to see Olli in a happy place after the race for the first time in ages.
Haftu is only one month post marathon, so it was going to be a tough ask to perform well. He would have had two lighter weeks and two to try and get rolling so I'm not surprised by his result. I thought Ky would try to hang with the front groups but he held on for a good race. 10k cross is far different to 5k track so I think he'll be stronger at XC next time around. Huge run from Ed who is self coached (or at least was in late 2025) and surely has big upside if he finds a good group/coach. I felt disappointed for Seth who would have wanted more, but he mentioned in a recent vid that he had 8 stressies in 2025 so who knows how his body is.
Leanne and Lauren both had fantastic runs. Looked like Leanne got ahead of Lauren mid-race but another bit of a kick from Lauren got her in front. Maudie was great on debut.
Relay team was excellent. I had Linden as run of the day. Hopefully a springboard for a big 2026 from Ollie.
I think a very good show from all the Aussie. Hall/Hull the standouts. Hopefully Hoare is on a upswing of form and will have a solid 2026. McDonald should be happy to have finished a cycle of training uninjured and hopefully he will gain some momentum. Robinson seemed very disappointed in his post race interview - on a similar level as both Blanks and Young. Rest. Regroup. I hope they all have a great year.

If you have had that many stress responses/fractures in 12months then surely you should take some time off and heal? I get that he wanted to train through to worlds 5k - I don't think I could/would turn down the opportunity represent my country but after that shouldn't you reset and get healthy instead of constantly posting reels on instagram showing off your impressive workouts and claiming how smart you train??

I’m a huge fan of Seth’s but do agree here - take the time to heal and come back stronger. He looked far from his best in this race, who knows how he pulled up after Zatopek? Assuming he can stay healthy he has a long and happy career ahead of him.

Training so hard you get 8 stress fractures/responses in 1 year is basically guaranteeing you don’t have a long and happy career.

Yeah when he mentioned this in his post race Zatopek it made me raise an eye brow. 8 stress fractures in one year indicates more than some overtraining, potentially even some serious medical condition. I found it a bit hard to believe he had a break out year despite supposedly not being able to train at all?

This is pretty crazy. Perhaps he shouldn't put out so much training advice! Im a Seth fan but once he started doing those clickbait-y videos from that other account i just scroll on by. Still like following him in races but just needs to ease up on the style of videos.
I do wonder how much input Seth actually has on that Pace Theory clickbait instagram account or if it's that Sami Merhi guy actually making the content. This Sami bloke is a "level 3 performance coach" - No effing idea what that even means. Seth should distance himself from this low effort content as it hurts his brand I reckon.

Seth does the voice overs for each video so he clearly has a decent level of input but they're not fooling anyone with their AI generated captions.
Zach Facioni unsurprisingly not renewed with ON/OAC after a pretty meh first few years as a pro. Hoping he can find a new group that better suits him. Anyone got more whispers/Aussie runner brand movements? Still waiting on confirmation for Stewy leaving MTC.
