With the last two races, Jesuit ca is about 6th-7th best in California right now. I take back all the hype I brought in about them, I still think they will win d2 though.

Jesuit was missing their super soph Ogilvie who is sometimes their #1. And last meet they were missing senior Kadel.

But still, as of now they are a year away from making NXN.

It’s not a given that they will win D2 this year either, since Matilda Torres looks promising, and senior-heavy Glendora has some potential if Sandoval returns and transfer Audet finally gets to race

Wait. They won their league opener in one of the toughest leagues in Northern CA with about 1/3 of the points of the second place team (an often top 10 state d1 finisher). Are you saying they need to run 77:30 team times every time they lace up? Come on man.

Plus, From what I understand, that course is pretty slow. I spoke with the Whitney coach (an old friend and college teammate) after one of the earlier meets there to ask about times as they related to some SJS d4 team that we'd be facing and he said the course was super tough / slow / loose dirt, etc....

Jesuit is in the mix for boys NXN, full stop. So is Matilda Torres.

You’re probably right. They looked really good their first few races then the cracks started to show these past two races.

They will go up against Northwest’s Jesuit OR in 10 day and Southwest’s Cheyenne Mountain. Originally I thought “forsure they will win.” But it’s actually going to be really close.

I would say it’s 50/50 whether Jesuit OR gets 3rd or 4th at nxr northwest. I think 1 and 2 will be Mercer Island then Crater. 3rd/4th will either be Jesuit or or CDA.

So a win against Jesuit at their home cross country is huge for California region when it comes to deciding at-large bids in December

I agree teams are going to be challenged this year as we already are seeing it with Great Oak. I agree a win up in Portland would be nice for the state especially if they back it up with a good performance at Clovis it would be a great look for California. Hoping this weekend California shows out at Woodbridge too but we will see.

Jesuit will also be racing at De La Salle this Saturday. That’s a lot of racing within a week.

Appears that Clovis North will not be doing Woodbridge but will be doing Nike Portland on Sep 28, just like Jesuit.

Looking forward to Saturday's results, I feel like some of us out of state fans have been lurking since the NP era. Pretty impressive the elite talent the state has produced recently Grijalva, Teare, and Young. I think Noonan is up next.

Keep in mind tho, this is a league race. They don’t really matter as much and Tom Laythe is a race so early into the season. I feel like Jesuit (CA) would rather be at their best when they are in the most competitive of races. Who knows what Walt Lange may be scheming.

Clovis North won't be doing woodbridge? I thought they were entered in the rate race

Another update was made a couple of days ago. They were originally in the rated race, but now they aren’t on the list

they fell off after their first race against buchanan. maybe we will see them get back up there and be competitive with the top 10-12 california teams. but they are not there yet.

Fields was Clovis North’s #2 runner in the first meet, but the last couple of meets he was on the cusp between JV and varsity

Their #1 guy (Lott) was missing from Kingsburg

It's going to be really competitive this year to finish as a top 10 california team.

Mira Costa, Jserra, Great Oak, Redondo Union, Bellarmine, ML King, Glendora, Jesuit, Buchanan, Beckman, etc

0 california teams are projected to be in the top 15 of the rankings. Keep reminding yourself that when you toe the line at nxn and state that rankings mean nothing. It is what you do there that matters in the end.

Nearly all the good varsity teams at Woodbridge are running Saturday, but of interest Friday will be the Menlo boys, opting to run Friday again. The same question as the previous 2 years, do they have a 5 strong (and healthy) runners? Also curious how St John Bosco will do (yeah, way off the radar), particularly how their Frosh-Soph times will compare to San Clemente's on Saturday.
