has any one turned it around from one season to the next,as she has...good for her, good for track....the female Bolt....lol....here comes a WR
I like the Richardson comeback story, but we have to let it play out. She still has the semis and finals to go. But with the Jamaicans seemingly in a down year, its wide open for her.
She really seems to have learned what it means to work hard and stay focused; the only thing that can stop your success is yourself! That should be a message to everyone doing anything in this country.
But it was a bit surprising there seems to be no challengers…. I get it was the 1st round.
Maybe in the semis we will see more times well under 11 seconds, and have some competition.
Also, the 200 will be interesting because Richardson has to be considered a favorite here, too. Hoping Steiner, Thomas and some others can step it up and make it a contest.
can someone please clarify the WCS symbol listed on the USATF results site. I know this means they have achieved the World Champ Standard, but I had thought a 'clear' WCS symbol meant they achieved the standard at this meet, and a 'Green' WCS meant they had achieved it previously. But there are many clear WCS listed for some athletes with slower times...and very few green WCS symbols.
Doesn't make sense to me...and USATF doesn't seem to have any info listed on their site.
I apologize if this has been covered already, but I couldn't see an answer when doing a quick search.
The clear WCS symbol means they achieved it before the meet. The green symbol means they did so in this meet.
Some of the green symbols are in error because the timing system confuses an intermediate split with a finishing time during the race. The finish order and times get sorted out correctly but the erroneous green symbol sticks.
Don't know why this is downvoted. Woody in 2023 isn't just the sit and kick beast in slow races like he used to be. It kind of just looks like Woody is fitter than Fisher right now. He's beaten Fisher in a slow race with a windup last mile today, and he's beaten Fisher in a fast race that went sub 13 in Florence. Add to that him breaking Fisher's indoor 5k record this year and that Fisher doesn't look as sharp as he did last year then I don't think it's unreasonable to say that right this second Kincaid is in better shape.
Woody's 2023:
3k - 7:40 easy win
5k - 12:51 win vs Klecker + AR
10k - 27:06 win vs Klecker
5k - 12:51 ahead of Fisher + Klecker
10k - 28:23 ahead of Fisher and Klecker
Kinda just seems whatever way you skin it so far Woody is ahead.
Grant in his post-race comments echoed what were saying. He thought he made the correct move but he did not close (58 and 15.12) like he thought he would be able to.
for a refund and they refunded me within minutes. —Think they're used to the request now. Feel a little bad but maybe they'll rethink their whole feed and just use youtube and allow it to be free. It's like 50% of the fee is going to Max Siegel's salary anyway.
Some random thoughts about yesterday: the biggest failure was Teare. Yes, he has a good kick but he should have already been in the front group. Very bad misjudgement. On paper I gotta go with Nuguse, Kessler and Hocker. But someone mentioned Prakel. He and Gregorek have been consistent troopers and maybe one of these times one of them will get rewarded.
I'm still undecided about SCR. Yes, the talent is undeniable, but her history and personality tells me she has to prove it when it counts. And don't count out the Jamaican women. Michael Norman, you ain't Fred Kerley. Go back to the 400.
I never care much for Galen Rupp but didn’t he win 8 of these USATF 10000m Championships? Not so easy these days.
Comparing any of these guys to Rupp is like comparing Jimmer Fredette to Michael Jordan....Rupp is and was simply on another level, ESPECIALLY in Championship racing.
