Only read the first page, but that guy on page 1 who's saying the Flu kills more people than the coronavirus is WRONG. The CDC director went on fox news and blasted hannity for trying to downplay it, by comparing it to the flu. At minimal, MINIMAL, the Coronavirus is 10x more deadly than the seasonal flu. At maximum, probably around 20x based on stats from South Korea/China.

panicking like everyone is doing is foolish and so is not facing the facts that the corona virus isnt an actual threat and the plague lasted so long because there was no technological advantages to making a vaccine like there is now

We have a flu vaccine while we have nothing for coronavirus.
Ohio health officials say they think they have 100,000 cases in their state.
The U.S. has 790,000 hospital bed available and 2/3 of them are already in use for non coronavirus cases.
2/3 of 790,000 = 263,333 hospital beds for coronavirus patients.
If 3% of the "infected," as you like to call them are going to die most likely in a hospital, that means the U.S. can only have 8,777,766 infected people before beds are overrun. Now, that's assuming only the people who are unfortunately going to pass away are the ones in hospitals. If we add 7% to 3% to account for people who might need medical attention in a hospital but won't die, the U.S will only be able to support 2,633,330 cases of coronavirus. Either way 2,633,330 and 8,777,766 cases are lower than what the actual experts say we are going to have to deal with.
So leave the predictions to the experts who have spent years studying this you clown.

I have not seen one doctor that I work with in a large hospital freak out. Not one. Maybe just anecdotal..
This is dumb on so many levels.
Even IQ45 is about to declare this a national emergency.
There is one major point the original poster is missing. The US government is not doing a good job explaining the approach we are taking. Since there is no vaccine, this is going to sweep through every person in every country eventually. Nobody is panicking. Most people will have minor effects, but this will be life threatening for some. Even if that small group is only 0.1% of the population, that is a huge number. The idea is to slow the virus spread enough so that our health care systems can keep up and assist people with critical symptoms like in-ability to breathe. We are not shutting down schools to protect kids (kids don't seem to be very effected by this, but they may be super effective at spreading it). We are shutting schools, work, meetings, sporting events so that we slow the spread enough to buy time for the hospitals to cycle the critical patients though the system and back home. If we exceed capacity, then there will be dying patients who can't get on a ventilator, and who will die unnecessarily.
I am collaborating electronically with someone who lives in Italy on a professional project. The couple from whom he rents his house both died from Covid-19 last weekend. This couple was in their early 60s and not especially vulnerable in terms of health. They had both been sick for about 10-12 days and had been in the hospital for four and five days, respectively. They were each on cots in hallways when they died, waiting for respirators to alleviate breathing trouble from being critically ill. My physician here in the US tells me that Italy has more ventilators per capita than does the USA. So this is a very serious threat. It is important that the US limit the number of exposures right now. Over the next year it is likely that half of Americans will contract the virus. Most will not get seriously ill. But if too many people get it all at once, the number of those who are critically ill will quickly overwhelm our hospitals. Right now in Italy doctors are having to use war zone triage protocol, making personal decisions over who lives or dies. This is not a hoax. It is a very real danger, requiring logical public health action *now*.
From what I 've heard Italy has an older population and their hospital care isn't as good as the US and more people smoke.
Obviously we don't want to get there but some smart people are saying calm down

Italy, 3 weeks ago: 5 known covid cases.
Italy, now: over 1,000 covid deaths, too many critical patients to treat, and each day brings more newly confirmed cases than the last despite severe containment measures.
We will find out how much damage the virus ends up causing soon enough, but at the moment, it's obviously " an actual threat."
