I think a lot is stemmed from jealously. There’s not a lot of money in the sport and it’s easy for those not making a living from it or able to compete at his level to make wild claims. The dude trained and his lived in the mountains from birth. His parents were guides etc.. he had a genetic advantage to being in the mountains.
It’s not like he’s never been beat in a race. He’s been beat plenty of times. He just generally sticks to events that suit him. He’s not the fastest climber but he’s in the top echelon. What separates Kilian from the competition in mountain running is his ability to descend, especially on technical terrain. His technical descending is so superior to anyone in the races he does. I fail to see where PEDs make you a world class technical descender. What makes Kilian special is the combination of his aerobic capacity which allows him to keep him towards the front of climbs along with his otherworldly ability to descend.
