Resting Heart Rate: 28 bpm?

I’m elite to say the least.

I was once electrocuted and was told that before I died my heart rate would have gone off the charts to over 200bpm, but when the paramedics bought me back to life my heart rate just went along at 18bpm for an hour or so, even in the hospital. After the trauma I'd gone through the doctors weren't game to mess with me in case I died permanently. Anyway, they were scratching their heads so I told them I was a 2:15 marathon runner and had also done a few ultras, they said that probably explained it. They gave me all my medical charts to keep so I've got evidence, do you think I'm eligible for a Guinness World Record?

yea my heart rate has been as low as 32 at two different times in my life. At 28 when running 90-100 miles a week and then at 42 when I went through a phase of training hard in the pool.

Even at 52 my heart rate drops below 40 from time to time.

Confirmed: he IS 58 and WAY out of shape.

As to the rest, IMHO getting lightheaded occasionally when getting up is nothing to be worried about. But if it happens all the time you ought to bring it up with your doctor.

That's totally wrong.

He had a mini stroke because his circulatory system was weak and all screwed up.

My resting heart rate was a pretty normal 45. Then I had a stroke and now my resting heart rate is 15. This has the side effect that I no longer need to eat or drink, because I'm basically dead, as long as I don't exercise that is.

My doctor told me that if I have another stroke, my resting heart rate will again be divided by 3, making it 5. Then I will almost certainly die, and my head will explode.

It's fun to see non runners reactions to resting heart rates. I'm not even close to what people are claiming here, so far I'm basically a 40mpw 19min 5k hobbyjogger and if I take a few days off my rhr will go to 42 (with 'peaking' under 40 plenty of times on my garmin). I think the average office worker lazy slob brain who takes an elevator over stairs can't even really comprehend it being as low as that. I'm yet to surprise a doctor or nurse with it
