You do realize that the US is a very large country right? For example someone that lives in Maine simply can't care about Mexico's head of state since the distance between is several times the size of Europe. I've met a lot of people from all over the world when I worked in a 5 star hotel in New York, people from other countries are not more worldly on average. There are plenty of people in whatever country you want to name that have never been to another continent or even seriously consider going/have the means to do such a thing. You expecting Americans to know about things across the sea is like us expecting you to know the Governor of Illinois and their position on various political topics. You 100% don't know that information and I don't expect you to or hold it against you. You couldn't fathom the amount of information that you'd have to learn as an American to be able to keep up with everything in this country. It isn't possible and not worth it to try just so that you can try to feel some sense of superiority for remembering random facts that are meaningless to your life.
