Exactly, he was actually faster as a junior than Lyles but was MIA in his early 20s

I'm 2 pages into this thread and while Lyles, who comes from a family of track athletes and is just north of 20 has had his integrity questioned, no one is wondering out loud how Guliyev has managed to become so successful all of a sudden this deep into his career.

Who needs to wonder? Drugs. Same as every other elite sprinter. Can't pick him as a favorite over Lyles but it's an exciting matchup for sure. He looked smooth as he'll over that 19.76.

Agreed. Guliyev is doped to the gills. He reminds me of the two Turkish sprinters in the women 1500M at London 2012

Y'all are super invested in athletes who wouldn't know your names if they saw you on the street and are quite obviously and undeniably fast as sh*t over 200m. Also, some might need to read up on RM's past from junior phenom to champ. There were some bumps in the road that stalled his progression earlier, to put it lightly. Anyways carry on.

Lyles' US title in June should be enough of a hint for you.

And I wouldn't say Guliyev is "great" at peaking:

-After setting a 200m PB in 2015, Ramil was a non factor in the Beijing WC 200m

-He came last in the Rio final

-He lucked out at the 2017 WC against a depleted Van Niekerk, and an absent Degrasse and Lyles.

-He ran against a relatively weak field at Europeans.

You should really stop trumping up Ramil's wins against virtually nobody.

Interesting. Lyles seems to be the only one Ramil can't beat in the DL at least. However, if you look at the times, Ramil ran 19.76 in the Euro final and 19.98 here. Alex Wilson ran 20.04 in the Euro final and 20.40 here. This is what a normal difference in time should look like at the beginning, Peak, and end of season. Lyles is running 19.6s throughout the year . Something to think about for USADA.

Thanks for letting me know that the reigning World Champion doesn't lose that title until there is another World Championship. I never would have known that otherwise.
