As NOP Skeptic points out above, 14:35 5000 pace = 8:45 3000 pace. Shalane ran an 8:43 indoors in January, so it is possible she could pace
Houlihan through 3000, especially if someone else makes sure they start well.
At Nationals, Frerichs said Houlihan had been killing it in practice last year, but couldn't figure out how to duplicate her times in races. It looks like she has figured it out.

When is start time? I hope the ladies slept better than I did last night. Much anticipation for the Heusden Hoedown women's 12 lap record attempt. Odd dream involving what would be the appropriate music to play at Peter Frampton's funeral. I don't own a copy of Frampton Comes Alive so not sure what triggered this dream?
Anyway, back to today's race and Shelby has the extra pressure of not letting Jerry down. He's taking Evan's steeple performance yesterday very hard. He was overhead yelling "Not getting any younger, just one second, and what's with the hair?"
At race time Shelby will just need to put all distractions out of her head and just run baby! Expect Great Things!!!

Really??? That's be amazing. 14:45 is basically her PB (14:44.80) which she set 11 years ago, when she was 25. Her next fastest time is 14:45.20 set seven years ago (on her 30th birthday!) She didn't break 15:00 again until last year, when she ran 14:58.99 at this meet. We all thought that was very impressive for a 36 year old marathoner. I guess not.
Well at least 14:50 she got in pretty good 3k shape indoors with only 2 races

In case you hadn't figured it out, the race doesn't start for several hours, contrary to what was posted above. I think they were confused by daylight savings time.
