small, women run business? Easy entry for minorities? My body my choice? If they get pregnant they can find an easy abor**on in most dem states. You could tax the sh** out of it.
Why aren't the dems all over this?

But work or buying and selling goods is very different than consent to sex. If you take money out of the equation, the prostitute (male or female) wouldn't do it. So you're buying consent or renting someone's body. I'm not sure consent to sex can ever truly be bought - in terms of whether it's moral to buy that. Whereas stacking some shelves for eight hours is a different thing. It's not harmful in the same way. Of course some jobs are harmful and they should be outlawed.
it.
Yeah, but there are plenty of jobs that do enter questionable moral ground and create a high level of psychological damage. Take a soldier in active duty, particularly during a conflict:
You are paying a person to murder citizens of another nation over political differences. A normal human being wouldn't firebomb a city or slaughter dozens of people he doesn't know. Can you purchase someone's willingness to take another person's life (morally and legally)? Seems like we're OK with that one as a society.

No one becomes an employee for pleasure, they are forced to become an employee because of the need for money.

I get what you're saying but each individual has different requirements for when they'll issue consent. If she wants payment to put on an act then that's up to her.
Decriminalize it and ensure there are easy pathways out. It's really similar to the drug decrim movement

Mainstream Dems don't talk about it because it's taboo.

Why do you think think that YOUR "ethical values" should be imposed on others?
If it is consensual and between adults then it is very difficult to see how the government should intervene.

BAN PROSTITUTION!
Few people take any job for pleasure. Prostitutes have decided that this particular profession is better than the alternatives that they have available to them. Who do you think that you are that you have the right to take away their best option?

Morals != ethics. Not remotely the same thing Mr. Utah.

John the Ute was one of the rock bottom dumbest individuals on these boards, a man with an IQ barely above rojo level. You are an extremely intelligent college professor and administrator. This would not be a fair “fight.”
Sex for money is perfectly legal in the United States, just so long as you videotape and upload it to the interwebs.

I can't find it on the internet right now, but there is a book out there that makes a compelling argument for legalizing prostitution for the benefit of women who are sex workers. The book compared data from countries were prostitution is legal and regulated to countries where prostitution is illegal. Women sex workers make more money and are much safer in countries where prostitution is legal and regulated. Incidents of human trafficking are also far less in countries where prostitution is legal. Women who work as sex workers in countries where it is legal often report very positive outcomes from the time they spent as a sex workers. Women make a lot of money without spending a lot of time at work. They are able to pay their way through college or support a family without having any of the time management issues trying to balance full time low wage employment with family/school. By contrast, women who are sex workers in countries where it is illegal often have to rely on Johns or brothels for protection and are overworked and underpaid because they have no ability to control their employment.
This ^ is the correct way to look at it.
Making it illegal basically creates an economic zone for criminals, organized and otherwise. It's basically like with alcohol, marijuana, etc. These kinds of things may or may not be bad ideas to be involved with but making them illegal certainly makes things worse.
Where I live in Europe, it's not legal but it's not illegal either. Much better than in the US
Politicians are prostitutes, are they not? They'll perform acts for you if the price is right.

Right?

So basically you think the women in your life need your rescuing and can‘t make the decision to do that (or not do that) without you intervening. Outside of your spouse, it‘s not really something you deserve a say in.

why isnt the party of freedom and small bussiness all over this? With bipartisian support is should be an easy pass. With his personal experience, why hasnt Gaetz authored a bill?
Some things are just illegal because of the societal implications of doing it. The implications of a nation uniformly giving up its attempts to bar people from ceding their hearts and minds to unhinged hedonism. That’s a fate worse for society than painful death , probably. Would you be able to stomach having a mother builds a life around being a vessel, an addict, for other addicts?
Yes. You have to legalize everything recognized as a "vice," or it opens the door to criminals.

No, you have it all backwards.
"Legalizing" something is not doing anything. And that is exactly what we should do regarding activities between consenting adults.
It is making things illegal that is doing something. And yes, that inevitably leads to inviting criminals to a new playground.
Tell me, who exactly do you think that you are that you should have the right to tell two adults whether or not to engage in sex (assuming neither is yourself or your spouse)?
