Of course Meb thinks Galen is dirty, so who cares if he won!

Shalane and Meb have better and more educated opinions than any of you.

Everyone knows Meb is one of the dirtiest runners out there. What a hypocrite!
Shalane not far behind.

Galen Rupp PR 91st on 2017 fastest marathons time list
Galen is another step closer to falling out of the top-100 marathon times list for the year 2017.

I think people are exaggerating how weak the Chicago field was. It really was a decent lineup:
Rupp: Olympic Bronze Medalist, 2nd in Boston. Went on to win.
Kirui: Is getting up there in age, but was 1st in Chicago last year and 4th in London in the spring.
Kipyego: 2nd in Tokyo last year and a 2:06 in Amsterdam last year.
Lemma: Ran 2:05 in Dubai last year. I think he ran a 2:07 somewhere earlier in the spring.
Chebii: Ran low 2:06 in Amsterdam last year.
Lilesa: Last year's Tokyo champ and Olympic Silver medalist.
So that's 6 guys who had either recently run 2:05/2:06 or had finished top 3 in a major within the last year. Not the best field, but still acceptable for a major.
Then you had the marathon WR holder Kimmetto, half WR holder Tadase, and 2:03 guy Biwott. Of course, those 3 hadn't done anything recently so adding them didn't really beef up the quality of the field at all.
Tadase had ran like 2:06 in the Nike event off near a 1 hour first half? cant remember exactly, and the 2nd half he had no car or whatever bs everyone here says takes 5 minutes off times
Galen Rupp (2:09.20) is now the 94th fastest marathon runner of the calendar year 2017, following 2:05, 2:06, and 2:07 finishes by the top three men in the Frankfurt Marathon.
And Boston/World Champ Geoffrey Kirui is 60th on the list. I'm sure both Kirui and Rupp are ashamed of their performances this year. After all, placing high on this list is ALL that matters!
Hey Beautiful Day, what do you think about Kamworor barely breaking 2:11 at New York yesterday? He's only a lousy 184th on the 2017 list. According to your logic, the 2:09 man Rupp would have DESTROYED Kam at New York, am I right?

Except that you are ignoring the conversion factors from the hot temperatures in Chicago, how fast Rupp closed, the fact that Rupp beat the WR holder in the marathon, got 2nd in Boston, and almost got gold in the Olympics, so that Rupp's 2:09:20 converts to a much faster time.
Sure. 2:09 is the new 2:05.

Rupp is a turtle to this guy, Kam and Kipsang are snails
Galen Rupp's PR of 2:09.20 is now 95th among all marathon runners worldwide for the year 2017.

Galen Rupp is now still #1 in unpaced marathons for 2017.

I suspected Rupp's 2:09.20 Chicago win would not be among the best 100 times this year in marathoning. Following Amsterdam, Rupp fell back several more spots, given that a lot of guys finished nearly a mile ahead of his virtual showing.
Does anyone think Rupp will be among the top 100 following Fukuoka?

It's just ignorant to compare times directly in track/road racing. You have to take into account elevation, changes in course elevation, strength of competition, peak segment speed, ambient temperature, wind velocity, dewpoint and wet-bulb temperature, the potential competition response adjustment factor, the technological equivalent factor, and the terminal acceleration/deceleration factor.
Taking into account all of these factors, Rupp's 2:09.20 converts to 2:03:38.46, which makes Rupp the second fastest marathoner of 2017 between Kipchoge and Adola.
2/10
90th or 108th? Make up your mind!! Weak troll effort.
Galen Rupp will never run faster, in real time that ordinary humans and atomic clocks understand, than 2:09.20.
