Two examples on great coaches that have been family members. They know the athletes the best.
I will take issue with Peter Coe being a "great" coach. Does coaching 2 runners to high levels put you in the great category? If so, what does one call Lydiard?
This thread is crap. It was a financial decision to go with her fiance. I don't believe she has an agent either, so she's keeping all the money to herself and her soon-to-be-husband. If she's getting comparable to Boris Berian, she came away with at least $210,000 for winning the World title/AR, and she's keeping all of it. Smart business move.
IMO, she looked more relaxed than she has in the past. Her fiance knows more closely how she's feeling day-to-day, and they probably work together more closely on knowing when to back off. Give credit where it's due- it's working for her.

Well, Joe B had an excellent 1st 10 months on the job, coached her from Bronze to Gold... (BTW, the dumbest people in the world are exorcise science majors, It is the new, "too stupid for Phys Ed" major). So being a Business major means Bosshard is at least a lil smarter then the rest of those dumb azzes.
Not since 2005, before Doc Brown's rep came into play.

I'd say most veteran runners don't need a coach to do workouts or a training plan... more so they need a coach to not become overtrained, avoid injury, and to work on deficiencies you may not know of
If you are a coach and one of your athletes performs the way Seb did you are a "great" coach. Wetmore is also great.
Coburn is about as far from Hall as is possible, psychologically. That said, if Bosshard gets an "A" for handling Emma, then Jerry gets an A+++ for Courtney.

This is the best reply. Basically she took a gamble and won big time. She keeps all the money. I think she's smart enough to be basically self coached at this point. If she starts to get injured or declines with age then a coach might be helpful. As for the Ryan Hall comparisons, that guy is a head case and is uncoachable. He just waited for Jesus to give him inspiring work outs.
