Kind of a small class, maybe there are more than what was listed. This Noah kid has got to be the best distance recruit Milwaukee has ever gotten. How the hell did they get this kid? His 3200 time is about equal to a 14:40-45 5k, what will this kid be able to do?
30:43 would be the fastest Marquette 10k since 2013.

Cory Petersen from Manawa, WI (might be a reservation) was a 1:54 guy junior/senior year in high school. He was their most prized recruit and underdeveloped talent.
Nick Viall, Mr. BACHELOR, was the d1 state champ. Ran some awesome solo 1:54s before state and then settled with a so-so 1:54 at state on a weird day. He was 1:52 material in HS. 22/49 in the sprints.
Marshall Finnegan was a 1:55/4:15 junior. Recruited full scholarship. He was dominant but had a big head as a senior. Did not repeat the 4:15 but went after something special at state. Although he butt heads with Corfeld Marshall knew what he was talking about. Very, very talented. Quit after freshman or sophomore year.
Cornelius Hill and Marcus Pauslon were good transfers in over the years. Keegan Calmes from Adams State was a 3:44/3:45 guy that finished school at UWM. Calmes had eligibility but Corfeld didnt want him on the team. I would not just say this but Keegan was sub 4 material.
Look, Bruce Pearl took a UWM team to the sweet 16 in basketball. Solid coach with some grey that caught up to him eventually but my point is UWM could be more of a national launchpad with a better coach. They have the facilities. Men's Soccer has done it too.

Ummm...what's wrong with Kenosha? There's far more going on here than those other places other than Madison and Milwaukee. If anything, Parkside is the best place to go if you're not Madison talent level. Great training area, smart coaching, distance focused program. Oh, and scholarships. Two seasons ago the men and women competed at Nationals. Coach Breitbach is very knowledgeable and will certainly have them back there again.

Tagliapietra is legit. Only ran one season of cross country at his school (soccer player I would assume) but ran a stellar race at their sectional course for his 15:41. I don't expect too much from him his first year of XC due to inexperience. On the track, totally different story. Was the only male athlete at the WI state meet to even attempt the (8,16,32) triple on one of the hottest WI state meets I can remember and I've been to plenty of them over the years. If he stays healthy and Milwaukee doesn't mess him up he has the potential to be an absolute stud.
I'm not really sure how UWM landed him. Must've been under recruited because his junior year times weren't anything special and he had no cross country results prior to his senior year. Between him and Sippy this class has a lot of potential to do something special for Milwaukee.

If you have been to plenty of state meets then you should know about this little unwritten rule of attempting the individual distance triple.
When you sign up for all three you are telling the world you intend to win all three. People who have waited to attempt this triple - Brendan O'Brien, Gabe Jennings, Chris Solinsky, Carl Hirsch, etc. Something in common about these names is they were undeniably dominant runners and seasoned state champions. Out of respect for your competition you dont attempt all three individual events unless you are that dominant. The fact Noah Tagliapietra did this makes him an idiot. He could have done better with only two events on his plate and not all three.

Fond du Lac had a legit shot to bring home a podium team finish, and the way the state meet format worked this year, why wouldn't an aerobic based grinder try to go for it. He got 4th in the 3200 on the first night, who was he suppose to beat that he lost to? 1600 the next afternoon he got 4th again. I ask you once again, what guys did he lose to that he should have beaten? Then hey why the hell not run the 800 to see what happens? The kid almost ran a PB.
I think the kid has a lot of guts to attempt that triple and run as strongly as he did.

Hard to find pr's on some of the panther runners from the 90's and 00's, but they did have a couple solid guys on the XC side.

Scott Brinen was a great runner there for two years and ended up going to Madison and finished 68th at XC nationals

Based on your inability to differentiate than vs then and lack of comprehension in compating the individual state triple vs the relay event triple I am going to slam you personally for also being an idiot.
You dont attempt the deemed impossible of winning all three events until youve chalked up a successful double in a previous year.

Hey maybe they have some new tricks up their sleeve at Milwaukee. I saw Noah run this past year and he is a talent. They have a good nucleus there with Terry McMillan and Alex Cotter. Maybe Noah saw a place where he could make an impact with some guys who have a lot of eligibility left. High schoolers are very connected and student debt is a major issue for people. If Noah has a big first year, I wouldn't be surprised if Milwaukee turned things around quickly.

A was Once a Runner at Carthage College, and if I had to do it all over, I would go Again to Carthage.
