Fun little meet, and the women's 1500 was a very good race. Appreciate the effort by Tracktown to get this going.
Alexa is just looking clunky these days. No zip. I really hope she revives because right now she is middle of pack material.
Front runners never win....It is just too much work, and then expect to kick in the last lap?
Eggelston with a great kick to win it. Sat in the middle of the pack for most of the rest....

I was more into Efraimson. I've been worried she'd end up like Cain but thougth she looked pretty good there. This was faster than she ran all of last year and she did most of the leading once the rabbit fell off.
While her PR of 4:03.39 dates to 2015, I think she can get that this year.
Her SB before tonight was 4:08.36. Her best last year was 4:06.38.

Take a note from HS & college. You can race every 1-2 weeks. You'll probably be better off for it.
Where did this idea come from that racing is bad? It is not supported by evidence. Just pros afraid to race because if they don't do well they get reductions in their meager stipend.

Yep. I didn't want to say it but on those head on shots at her legs, I thought she had a bit of thunder thighs. However, I think that's a good sign. Let her figure it out on her own. She drops 10 pounds and watch out.

I think the turnout may have ended up to being 500+.
I'm not sure what there expectations where but I thought it was a fun little meet. It lacked passion, since nothing was at stake but Incould see where the format could be successful. I was not convinced about the team affiliations but the local fans sitting behind me were into it so I could see it working in the future.
The meet came off as a game show in a way. The athletes were overly showy as I'm sure they were instructed to. Every jumper asked for a rhythmic clap for every jump. Every athlete gave high fives to the crowd after every race. Every athlete hammed it up when introduced. These things didn't surprise me but the scene was different than other meets we see at Stanford where fast times are usually on the line.
They got off script with pacers and non-team athletes. If the meet is really about a team concept then stick with that. Every other Meet we see is rabbited. Let teams be creative about team tactics and scoring points.
The primary colors used for uniforms were uninspiring. Lopez Lomomg and Paul Chelimo ran in some off-the-shelf Nike Miler singlets that were a close, but. It exact match to their teams colors. The Brooks athletes just wore there standard uniforms. And unsponsored athletes wore non-branded uniforms. If any of the teams had logos on their uniforms, you couldn't read them. You had to memorize the color.
The announcer did not keep us informed of team scores or field event standings. After each round of jumps they could have announced updated standings and put a focus on those athletes.
There may have been a beer garden but it was not accessible from the track and was not publicized. Once you got to your seat you could see a fenced area with tents, tables, and chairs but it was not clear who it was intended for.
If it's s team event a scoreboard should have the score posted at all times. A ticker with stats and points should be visible on the scoreboard.
Move the meet along quickly, keep action moving. I'd love to see league meets with paychecks to athletes. Athletes doubling, doing what it takes to win.

To be fair there was a scoreboard on the field with the team score but I didn't notice it until late. I'm just surprised they didn't take every opportunity to hammer that home.
They could have had a baseball dug-out like area for each team where you watch the athletes cheering for their team throughout the event. But like most meets the athletes kept to themselves and did not stick around after their events.
Rupp look tired in the 10Km. Alberto should let Galen and his family go to the movies for once.
I can see how a track purist might pooh-pooh the meet, but as someone who attended with several friends and all our kids, it was a very enjoyable outing.
I think some improvements in presentation could be made in order to keep fans updated on the field events and team score, but they're still obviously working out the kinks, so I'll cut them some slack.
I also think some sort of sponsor tie-in, where by each ticket-buying fan is assigned a team, and gets some kind of prize if that team wins, might add to the team-cheering component. As it was, S.F. was sort of the crowd favorite, but no one really seemed to have a vested interest.
