I wish him the best but don't want to see him hurt for a few months. You do realize if he runs 2:08 to 2:10 it will be a new PR. He's a professional of course he going to say his foot is fine just like someone playing in the Super Bowl who otherwise would be skipping any other game. Between the wam weather and decreased training from his PF injury he won't be anything close to 2:05 if he completes the race.

agreed. it's warm, but not hot. these guys are pros who train in 70 degree weather. Rupp's foot is fine and he admitted as much. 2nd place at best.

He foot isn't as good as he claimed- that was his game face. But given the care he's gotten over the past 2 weeks he only lost about a half week of training total.. He got his PR and broke 2:10 as I thought if he finished. If he's healthier and the weather is cooler his next marathon should be 2-4 minutes faster. DId you really think he was going to come out and say he almost dropped out of running this 2 weeks ago and hasn't been able to train at 100%??
You take me a hater because I knew the AR wasn't at risk this time. When he's healthy and a bit more experienced Rupp will likely break the AR and give a run at the WR. Not something that inexperienced bystanders are going to have insight as 2:09 is Rupp hobbling in due to his injury and heat pure and simple (even if he won't make excuses).

He shaved a few second off the PR on a downhill course with a cross- to tailwind today. He keeps running 2:10 plus or minus, so 2:06-2:08 would be a rather unworldly leap.
