I think the whole point is that to an increasing degree making stuff requires fewer people.
Analogy with agriculture ("growing stuff"): we're growing tons of food but fewer and fewer people are involved. Things change.

That's a farce. Low Paid Assembly of Pre-Made Parts plants are the same as Fast Food Restaurants. No skill, No high pay, No Degreed Engineers. Cheap.

The facts are in the US only 10% of the workforce are manufacturing jobs.

The decline in manufacturing jobs has been happening for years based on manufacturing efficiences and robotic implementation.

Remember 10%, maybe we are focusing on a dead on arrival concept of growing manufacturing.

BTW , TPP was a trade proposal and not in effect as some think, it's been dead on the senate floor for months. Not sure why all the chest beating for something that has zero impact.

Why does it have to be 10%? Almost 20% of workers in Germany are in manufacturing. It's about 17% in Japan. Those countries are among the most technologically advanced in the world, and they run trade surplus, not deficit.

Manufacturing statistics have nothing to do with the quality of life in the US, but sadly, they used to mean quite a bit.

Nor do manufacturing numbers account for the fact the US has grown some 100 million people in 50 years.

Manufacturing provides some of the highest paying jobs to blue collar workers. If you don't have a college degree, what other jobs provide better income?

Heartless elites like yourself focus on numbers, but our president understands the pain of hard working Americans.
