I did stop and wave to the police car they sat in their car and said nothing.They drove down the course to redirect me after i had already ran 600 or more meters out the wrong way.I then had to turn around and run back .The director said i should have stopped and knocked on the window.Crazy.Also there was a cone in the wrong place.Look the point of this is that the director has to except responsibility. There needs to be people paying attention at all turns.Its also a safety issue. A car could have hit me.He words were after the race get a beer and some crapy rice.This is not right to the runner you is the customer.

It is over and done with, so move on. I feel sorry for your family as they will have to hear your story over and over for the rest of your life.

It is a crappy 5K, don't you get it?

Dealing with race directors: Many of them these days are business people who know nothing of running, it is just a monetary opportunity. They are not running the race for the winners or even real runners. They are running it for the masses of joggers / walkers. There are 100 of those people for every competitive runner, so we don't matter to them.

There is only one thing they will understand. Money. If you paid by check, cancel it. Stop going to their race. But you are not enough. Tell everyone you know and Flame them on social media and any other review site you can find. But be sure to make it sound like they did wrong for everybody by focusing on things like lack of port-o-potties, not enough or crappy finisher medals, mis-marked course that made many people run extra distance (joggers / walker really don't want extra distance). A road that is not closed and uncontrolled intersections are dangerous for everyone, so focus on that.

In reality, you will get no recognition or apology for your race. It is ruined for you. But you should definitely try to ruin the race financially for next time.

FFS, unless you tell us what the race is you're banging on about that ain't going to happen (accept that is, he is excepting), give the race info and the LetsRun sleuths and basement trolls will join the dots and do the rest.

Precious Roy is a race director who GPS his race with his old car and has no mile splits.Its eather pr ready or long as hell and people are running around with maps trying to find a treasure.Thats his world.

Yea and these were local police.No knock against police officers. My thing is let's call out race directors for this.One other thing i forgot is the guy who did get the master award(was like 5 minutes slower then i run at a normal race) .At the awards he announced before saying his name that he was happy for this guy and he was a dear friend. As he called his name.

Looks like you will be studying the course from now on. Best to do it BEFORE you sign up, not on a random Wednesday. I could NEVER imagine running a road race without knowing the course beforehand.

Yea and the race. It's bad when you have to ask the race director to put mile marks out and he says he gps's the race.

That's the first thing we learned when I went out for xc my freshman year of high school. We always walked the course right when we got to the meet. That is part of the fun of racing is deciding how you want to run the course. If it is windy, you need to know at what point the wind will be against you so you can tuck in behind other runners. If it is hilly, you want to know where the hills are on the course and plan your race strategy with that information. Knowing exactly how far you have to go and when you can kick may mean the difference in a few places or a few seconds off your time.

If you can't even do the basics of getting ready for a race, then you don't deserve anything and have lost your right to complain about the race.

So just out him and his fücking race here and we will sort it!, if you're not prepared to do that then forget it and let it go, you'll feel a lot better.

1. Too bad about being led off-course. I would be very annoyed if that happened to me.

2. As a general rule, volunteers are good-hearted people but don't ever rely on them. They have zero incentive to provide good service. Some may be helpful but most are not.

3. In the future, know the course, especially if it's a 5K and you can jog it as a warmup beforehand. Apart from solving your problem, it helps you find the shortest line and figure out where to make your moves. I ran a 5K last week and probably lost a few seconds because of this; I wasn't led off-course but I definitely took the long way on parts of the route.
