A bunch of Pac 12 teams led by UCLA and Washington State both ran much better than expected. 19 ranked teams and six other teams receiving votes in the national polls competed in the men’s race. Yet #27 UCLA managed to finish 6th overall and unranked Washington State was 11th overall. #11 Stanford finished 2nd overall although most pundits thought Stanford was way underrated as the #11 team in the country (they are #4 in the LRC fan poll).
Unranked Southern Utah deserves praise for finishing 12th as does unranked Eastern Michigan who was 17th overall - beating 5 ranked teams.
#15 Eastern Kentucky was the biggest disappointment as they were just 26th. Despite finishing 26th, Eastern Michigan actually beat a ranked team as #29 Illinois was 27th.
Wonder how much of a difference Thomas Ratcliffe will make, and did Alex run for Stanford?
Still looks like NAU is head and shoulders the best team right now, Syracuse goes home devastated?

Syracuse's new Italian kid, Iliass Aouani really blew up- he was in 13th at 6K (18:24) and dropped to 86th (24:53) at the finish. While Northern Arizona clearly had the best team today, that 73 spot drop (and losing a rock like Hehir) was the 'Cuse difference between last year and this year.

I am not comparing Letsrun to Flotrack, I am just pointing the similar fact. rojo you have ranked nau a t# 7 then # 5 while the couches poll ranked NAU 3rd twice then 1st. You should have gave a little respect for a team that has 4 guys under 29:20 10km and 7 guys under 14:10 5km. Any way, they look very good today. Hopefully they keep this good form to nationals and win the Nationals. They have been on the podium for 3 years on the last 4 years they need to win it this year.

Digging deeper into the women's results, Washington just crushed everyone. Insane depth. They had seven in before NC State or Providence's fifth AND a JR that won the B-race unpressed and would have been in front of NCS #5 and Friar's #6 as well! All eight are underclasswomen. Starting to look like a dynasty in the making if they stay healthy.
I agree they looked great, but they didn't run vs Colorado and some other good teams, so dynasty talk is a bit soon.
On another note credit to the BYU men taking third and showing that Virginia meet wasn't a fluke.

According to live results during the race, he was with the leaders through 4K, dropped back from 4K to 6k, then dropped out. Anyone know exactly what happened?
