Certainly your entire body has to cross the line before the second placed athletes body does. You cant win by just laying on the line with your legs still behind while the deemed second place athlete has crossed completely. The rules need chancing. In my mind Felix won that race.
I'm not following the logic here. When Christian Smith dove to beat out KDR in the 800m final at the 2008 olympic trials he was hailed as gutsy. Now this chick dives to beat an american and she's a cheater.
It's sad to see this entire discussion on LRC (sure, NBC readers don't know better, but the elite at LRC should).
The poster above makes a good point though .. If an athlete is allowed to start the race with their hands touching the ground, why can't they finish it the same way?
