Nope, only three (Webb, Cheserek and Hunter) have run sub nine for two miles and under 1:50 for 800 meters. The other three ran ~18 meters shot of two miles.

I went sub 1:50 as a soph and opened up a road race sub 9(died out my last mile and dnf'ed) my junior year but I never had the grades to run for my school. I used to run races unattached under different names.

Isn't true, Gerry.

It was far from the most hostile thing on these boards. (See recent posts about Montano, dozens of posts about Lagat, everything ever about Rupp...)
Will you re-instate it, or at least explain was was wrong with looking at a period of dramatic improvement?
Cause the moderator deletes WAY more stuff than I would. I'll restore it. What was it called?
It was called something like "analyze David Torrence's progression here" ... it was a bit harsh and kind of making fun of his comments about Lagat, but really it was not so bad at all.
Thanks for taking a look.
Liquori, no? Essex Catholic High, Newark, N J.
NOPE, the above list is complete and accurate.
In summary, the only US citizens to run sub nine for two miles and sub 1:50 for 800 meters in high school are Webb and Hunter.
The others listed above are/were not US citizens and/or ran ~8:56.4 for 3200 meters.
Rojo is asking the following -
sub-9:00 3200m
sub-1:50 800m
If you want to do 2 mile, we might as well do 880 yards.

Something like 9:14 for 3200. That's barely good enough for a lower level D1 mid-major or a decent maybe D2. He was dismissed by Hunter and his coach (they were too good to race him), and only ran 3:59 this year. Slag's something of a cult hero on letsrun but hardly worth consideration for those "in the know."
If you are going to convert, how about Drew Hunter's 3K that converts to 8:37-ish

Might even be 8:36, which indoor is really fantastic. Forgot how good he ran in the 3k. How many HSr's have ever run faster outdoors ? Only German and Verzbicas?
More importantly, Hunter is the only US high schooler to run under 1:50 for 800 and eight minutes for 3000 (and sub four).
