German Fernandez 10k debut!!!!

This makes no sense. What could he possibly gain by entering an event much longer than he has normally raced, only to stay with the pack and maybe do a 3k pickup? Back in the day when we used the term "rust buster," we meant a shorter, faster race. You're saying that Jerry, who generally has his athletes race less than more elites, is going to tell German to get into a 10,000m with almost three dozen spiked up guys and run with the pack?His PRs align nicely with Pre's. I say 27:44.

Using GF's prs from 2009 is hardly a basis for hope. This reeks of a last ditch attempt to salvage a lost career. I'm rooting for the guy, but nothing he's done in the last 12 months racing wise speaks to anything below 28:20.

Sounds like he's a bit like my brother, Weldon. Says he's been doing a lot better whe he's been running his easy days easy.

HE DID IT - He qualified for the Trials. That's a great first 10k on the track as well. Breathe deep, relax, hail Mary's and see what happens next.

holy shit. I just happened to browse letsrun, after a long time away. Anyways, I was the one who started that fiasco, although I really didn't start it - I just highlighted the brojo's flawed system, whereby you can put ANYTHING you want on the frontpage. I remember it, news of the event was hard to come by, and people were dying to believe in Alan Webb again. People invest so much into hero's, they want to believe so badly, to have a victory for themselves through some hero who they believe represents them in some abstract way. Anyways, I created a thread called ALAN WEBB 13:07 BOWERMAN!!! - something to that effect, and opened it up on my computer, possibly about 200-300 times, at least, probably more, in 20-25 mins. Thus, given their archaic formula on what they present on the front page, which is setup by SUPER HOT: you can pick any thread you wish to go to the front page. Not sure if they still use the same algorithm, but it was a lot of fun, although most of all it spotlighted the Brojo's lack of control on what makes it to the front page. Never Forget.
