You come across as someone whose going to disappear up your own arsehole if your not careful. Chill out mate.

Don't mess with the SoCal crowd. They be too cool for the rest of us. They are fast I'll give them that but won't give you the time of day unless you run 15:40 at 50, maybe 15:10 at 40.

So someone says pool running is boring and soul destroying and the old farts get their knickers in a knot with preachy replies, me thinks some old farts need to get a life.

Also, I think they missed the bit about "make up your own mind".

What life's really too short for is refusing to appreciate accomplishments because they're beyond what you can do. I really didn't expect there's much someone with as limited a perspective as you have could help with.

however, despite repeated admonishments and criticisms of the thread's title, even by my teammate socal pete (see you in carlsbad sunday), i will stand by it.

"old dudes rule!"--just maybe, just possibly, i was being hyperbolic. but go to any u.n. assembly or presidential cabinet meeting, and i'd bet you'd be in the presence of predominantly old dudes. i will admit to some ambiguity with the word "old," so i'll go with the constitutional definition: 35 to be president, and i think that makes you officially old, which makes sense you are almost exactly twice as old as other legal adults (worth noting, the average age of the house is 57, and 63 in the senate. the supreme court average age is 69. the average age of the world's executive leaders: 60. nowhere else but on letsrun, with the exception of google, can you learn these fascinating facts).

Obviously not that familiar, you're on an anonymous forum, you wouldn't have a clue who you're conversing with or their accomplishments or perspectives.

By the way, apart from "tons of time in the pool aqua jogging" and over reactive oldies, which accomplishments aren't I appreciating? Also, if you've ever done "aqua jogging" or know any runner, world class or otherwise, who has, I think you'll quickly find out they don't appreciate it either, but they still do it.

I have done aqua jogging. I found it less boring that weight lifting but it's not thrilling so I think someone who appreciates Wade's accomplishments and the things he did to achieve them might not be so dismissive. And as you mention, the forum is anonymous so you have no idea how seriously any of us you mentioned take ourselves.

Wade's times are extremely impressive, it's just too bad that his personality doesn't match.
