The race would have been completely different if Huddle and Saina had a completely clear path for the end of their race. Lapped runners have no business being on the track when the leaders are finishing. It's a race, it's about who wins, if you're not there, you're done. Kenyans who go balls to the wall in cross races or marathons and blowup understand that and just drop out like men, they understand it.
I'd say so, at least twice that I saw where she attempted to pass and had another runner impeding her. You can only start and stop so many times especially at that pace and expect to have any juice left to kick by someone.

yea, there were two occasions where she got caught up. One on her way to the final lap where they lapped Jordan Hasay & she wouldn't move out of the 1st lane for them and the second was in the last straight away w/ a runner I didn't recognize. Huddle's kick was definitely disrupted by the traffic but Saina was able to capitalize. That sucked. Hasay was holding back tears at the finish. She had to of felt bad on multiple levels.
No she was lapped on the penultimate lap.

It would have to be a rule where an official can flag a runner and remove them from the race for being too far back behind the leaders with 2 laps to go.
If the rule was "once you're lapped, your out", then it's too late to help solve the problem, lol. It has to be a rule for BEFORE you're lapped.

I was unable to see it, but usually such comments mean the person stayed on the rail. Which is the official advice, as otherwise they attempt to move out, in mid-race delirium, and cut off or collide with a faster runner due to not having eyes in the back of their head. The only other option would have to be an official moving them out, in which case they will be running a much longer distance. There seem to be few other options that are sane and clear, but perhaps you have a better idea?

After a runner is lapped is too late; they've already caused the problem. Get some officials out on the track and order the slower runners out in lane three if it is reasonable to conclude they are about to be lapped.

Both incidents involved a lapped runner on the rail moving to the outside as the leaders were passing.

Huddle was ahead the whole race and with 2 laps to go there were 2 lapped runners running side by side filling up almost the entire first 2 lanes. The kenyan ran around the 2 and started her kick and passed Huddle who couldn't get around the idiots filling up the first 2 lanes.

2 times in the last 2 laps the lapped runners were two wide trying to race each other... It was messy looking.

When I ran for Santa Monica tc in the late 80's, tracks were loud indoors, and you knew to move over. On these indoor mondo tracks, you may not here them coming.

Lapped runners need to hold their line in lane 1, not move to the outside. Also, be aware if the leaders are coming around and do not pass if this is the case.
