There is a difference in OWS competitions and swims like the English Channel. In competitive OWS, 5K & 10K (like in the Olympics), HS boys do fare the same as they do in 1500m pool swims against top women.

How about endurance running, we're on Letsrun.com for F's sake?! Ann Trason, she was second place overall at Leadville 100 in 1994. I know the sport has come a long way since then, but I don't see a HS boy beating her, even a 2:10 marathon guy would have his hands full.

Mitch Kingery also had a 2:23 at 16, although I can't find any marathon results from later in his life.
So all the endurance sports are what people are hypothesizing women would be better at than boys. But it's really women who've trained for the particular event versus untrained boys who would fare reasonably well.

That's what I figured. Women are fatter and float better which helps them conserve energy and stay warm too. I'm always hearing about old ladies who swam to Cuba and such. Give a woman enough food and she could float across the Atlantic ocean.
There's also that woman who held the Appalachian trail running record. A pro male ultramarathoner barely broke it so a high schooler would not.
I'm not all that big on pool swimmers but I wouldn't call them swine.
Ultra marathoning. If a woman can't beat a top high school boy in that, there's no "work-type" sport where one could. That's the best opportunity unless we look at extreme skill sports like riflery.
Our high school had a girl in the late 1970s who won the boy's state championship in tennis. One of the best pro women at the time, Tracy Austin, came and played an exhibition and beat this girl 6-0, 6-0...
The top women tennis players in the world can certainly beat almost any high school boy tennis player.

Most of the examples of this kind of thing, Boris Becker, Ian Thorpe, Michael Chang, etc, are also examples of high school boys who similarly "demolished" the very best male pros in their respective sport as well.So I'm not quite sure of the point of framing the question this way.
