Just tell us your agenda. Give us a hint as to why you're trying to get RC in trouble (which you won't...despite people talking crap about his results he's still liked) or trying to bad mouth P&M? That could make a much better thread/story.

Ok I apologize for criticizing his racing. He ran a 65 half.

I'd like to see his mileage, and I wonder if it was impacted by whatever chronic physical problem he has.

People keep mentioning other irregular results and yet only one other result can be proven to be that of a course cutter. The 3rd place female in age 35-39 group has already been outed in this thread. I looked her up and if there was a story there I would gladly narrate it but she's pretty much a nobody, no online presence, solid 1:45 half marathoner who one time had a guy run with her bib and recorded a 1:31. For some reason at Army Run she cheated her way to a 1:27, that's all.

Why ask what my agenda is when it is painfully obvious? Why not ask what is Josie's agenda? Still bragging about her fake sub 1:40, reporting the result to P&M so they could plaster her miraculous performance all over their media channels. Why not ask what Rejean's agenda is? No one would know better than him that Josie cut the course. No one in the running community is both more knowledgeable and closer to Josie than Rejean. He ran with her, designed her training regimen, poured over her training data,and yet he blindly believes she was capable of this, no questions asked? He charges $100/month to coach runners, lures novices by broadcasting the amazing results his legion of runners obtain. And yet here is one result, so obviously bogus, and yet it is just another amazing accomplishment that you too can achieve by joining P&M, at only $100/month.

Sorry guys. Pretty sure you're getting worked up over nothing. This is just Sportstats (a popular but pretty poor timing company in Canada) sucking at what they do. Their intermediate splits are notorious for being located up to one mile (or more) from where they say they are. The runner and her time are mostly likely legit. Sorry to disappoint you.

Ignoring all the evidence presented and spitting out a random factoid that may or may not b relevant does not constitute proof of anything.

But in the interest of science I'll humor you. Indeed Sportstats has had problems previously placing their timing mats in the correct locations but when this happens it is glaringly obvious. For example at Seawheeze this year the splits of the top 3 runners were:

3:16/3:16/3:41/3:30

3:33/3:27/3:55/3:45

3:31/3:30/4:00/3:48

One would expect to see similar anomalies at the Army Run but that is not the case. The splits of the top 10 runners were:

3:12/3:16

3:15/3:16

3:21/3:23

3:21/3:24

3:15/3:26

3:20/3:27

3:30/3:30

3:29/3:31

3:22/3:33

3:30/3:31

If anything the 5k timing mat may have been placed closer to 4.9-4.95K which would only strengthen the argument that a huge negative split is suspicious.

Taking this one step further I grabbed the Garmin data of 3 random finishers and examined their time at 5K comparing it to the time Sportstats had for 5K.

1. Garmin - 20:52 / Sportstats - 20:51

2. Garmin - 24:14 / Sportstats - 24:26

3. Garmin - 24:42 / Sportstats - 24:48

Again, absolutely nothing to suggest that the timing mat was off by more than 100m let alone up to a mile or more as you claim.

At first I wasn't that suspicious, because my girlfriend has gone from a 2:04 half last year to a 1:46 half this year. She is 27 and has always kept active but never competed seriously in a sport. Improvements like that do happen.

But there is no way my dear girlfriend could cover 5k in 20:00 to save her life. Definitely not 7.3k, and no chance in the middle of a half marathon.

Busted and in Chi town at 35k she's going to be in a world of hurt. Poor thing.

I say she runs 4:00 in Chicago or DNF and I do feel sorry for her.

First off, I don't know any of the involved. I ran the Ottawa Army Run in 2014 and the 10K timing mat was about 500m short of the 10k mark. They placed the mat at the start of the Alexandra Bridge, maybe for convenience. The bridge is about 600 m long. I don't know where they placed the 10k mat this time, but perhaps before the pitchforks come out any further we should find out from people who ran the race where they actually put the mats. I have run other Sportstats races in Ottawa and the markers are often placed for convenience rather than for accuracy.

So instead of reviewing the evidence from this year's race you continue your mindless drivel? If you spent just 10 seconds reviewing the data you would know that a) there was no 10k mat this year; b) there are no anomalies in the splits of the top 10 runners; and c) garmin data from runners has been compared to their sportstats splits confirming accurate placement of the 5k mat.

To further invalidate your point, look at the splits from the top 10 in 2014, the first being the pace/km at 10K and 2nd being pace/km for the next 11.1K

The discrepancy is of course magnified due to the first split being at 10K vs. 5K. Unfortunately such a difference does not exist when analyzing this year's data.

The amazing thing is one doesn't need anecdotal evidence when there is so much data at one's fingertips.
