I want to go to a certain college but Parents wont let me.

Good luck to you. If you're running 17, you'll need to train mighty hard to get to a college level. 17 is not even a number one runner in high school. Plus you'll need to hold down a job and go to school. Again good luck.

youre not asian are you? asians are a communal group. we dont just say 'sayonara'--and only the japanese say that. that's the problem with the western notion of "independence." independence in this country means having taxpayers foot the bill for foodstamps, welfare, and other entitlements. in asian tradition, it's family that takes care of each other.

yeah i know i have a long ways to go.

but i have lost about 55+ pounds. and run a lot of mileage. got in to my state newspaper for my running endeavors and weight loss.

i have shaved off about 9 minutes off my 5k time ever since i was fat.

Make sure to look at all angles, maybe they really are right. Maybe they aren't but you still should do what they say. I don't know your situation like you do, no one does.

However, if my parents forced me to a Certain college, not just college, with the threat of disowning me, I'd be gone. That is just me. These are big decisions, think them over and don't be rules by emotions. That's probably not what you're looking for but its all I have to offer.

well before i got anemic iw as puttin in 80 mile weeks.

before i got in to the state news paper i was running more than any varsity runner on a 4A state team who finished 5th (Washington has lots of tough comp, so you can understand how good the runners have to be)

and I just plan to continue my Lydiard esque training.

If you go to WWU, here's a suggestion for cutting back on costs:

1. Live on campus for your first year. Having the all-you-can-eat dining halls and 5-minute walks to classes is a real time saver. You should be able to find a part-time job without much difficulty. Spend time exploring the many running routes available from the school as well.

2. Apply for a job as an RA (resident advisor) and live on campus for another year. The compensation is free room and board plus a little spending money each month (about $4,500-$5,000 for the nine months).

3. After the second year, you can decide whether or not to live off campus (most people do by their junior year). I knew a couple people that stayed on as RAs for their 3rd and 4th year as well. They saved a bunch of money and enjoyed the on campus lifestyle.

If you don't want to go the RA route, then I recommend either finding a place to live off campus or signing up for the Birnam Wood apartments (both are generally cheaper than the dorms).

yet running slower than. You'd get more than your fill of competition at UW and you could even redshirt your first year if you want to take another year to 'develop'.

if you were really asian, then youd be smart enough to know that not even 10% of the asian population would understand what "sayonara" means.

I'm a white idiot and even I know what 'sayonara' means. Asian ancestry or not, if you were born in America and don't know then you probably aren't as smart as you'd have us all believe.
