I'm 25 still living at home. I graduated college and then went straight for a graduate degree. Paying off 1200+ in student loan debt but will be finished in a few months. I have a girlfriend. I also travel the world being a professional athlete. Flame away. If I had a place I rented, I wouldn't even be able to take care of the upkeep involved because I'm gone so much during the season. But according to some posters, it's all about entitlement it seems like.
Am I proud of it? Absolutely not. I hate it. But I'm not going to waste money when I'm securing a better future financially because I'm paying off my loans as quickly as possible. Could I go rent a place and live dirt cheap somewhere at altitude? Absolutely. But I would rather sacrifice being closer to my girlfriend and family. Which she respects and understands 100% and so do my parents.
Another thing of note.
Farm families in America used to live on the same farm, both in the same house or in a separate house on the farm. I don't think anyone labeled the younger generation living on the farm "entitled." Having multiple generations of a family living together used to be a common occurrence.
Then again, the younger generation were the workhorses so they sure were not mooching, and probably were supporting their parents through the majority of labor by the time they were 27.
I spent so much time in the lab and in the library my first semester of med school that got rid of my apartment second semester. I usually spent 4-5 nights a week crashed in the library stacks and the rest either crashed at my gf's (now wife) or a friend's couch. Did that the rest of my time in med school.
