Tommy Fulton of Texas Southern beat Mike Boit of Eastern New Mexico (Kenya) in the mile at the 1973 NAIA National Championships in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. They both broke 4:00.

Arkansas has been on the list since the first post.

There are only 12 states left with no sub-4:

Alabama, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Mississippi, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming.

The rest have been covered.

Actually should include Minnesota on the non sub-4 list because we only have a report of a road mile. Not the real thing.

So an unlucky 13 on Friday the 13th.

No Alaska yet. Dunbar ran his in Portland. They had an attempt in the Dome but it came up short.

Jack Bolas ran 3:58.3 in the Dome last September. He did it on a Friday the 13th amazingly enough.

In addition to Jack Bolas for Alaska, you can add Patric Casey's 3:59.76 for Montana to this list.

With Minnesota back on the sub-4 list, the one other sub-4 on this list is for Idaho. It would be interesting to get any available detail on Jacinto Navaratte and that race.
