Because there is scant evidence that coffee has negative effects on cardiovascular health, and in fact a decent amount of evidence that coffee boosts cardiovascular health.

can you elaborate at all on these finish bottles? I've just been reading about this concept in cycling, where they often contain high amounts of caffeine and also some pretty serious narcotic pain killers. Curious if the same might be in use by runners?

Yup :)

Kenenisa and Tariku Bekele both drink lots of coffee. They will drink coffee before a run and after a run. Coffee is a major part of the Ethiopian culture (to not drink coffee is to not be Ethiopian). Kenenisa's own words were "Mo drinks tea and I drink coffee."

Just don't run hard on your easy days. Caffeine can sometimes mask your real fatigue, and you can run harder than you should so you wont recover as much.

You shouldn't drink coffee. 100% of the people that have drank coffee have died.

What about caffeine confusion?

At work I went into the convenience store to buy a yogurt. The guy on line ahead of me -- he looked like a data center drone, most definitely not an elite athlete -- bought a 20oz Mountain Dew, 2 Red Bulls, and a 5-Hr Energy. This was at 4pm! After he left I said to the cashier, "Can you believe what he got?" The reply was something like, "That's pretty common, you should see what people buy."
