Why does everyone consider El G a doper but not Kiprop?

and the 8 year deadline was also approaching

a doping scandal from athens would be bad for business

the IOC probably cherry picked the few east

I think one difference is that the EPO era was one of the rare periods when a super effective PED was widely available that could be used all through the season and until 2005 or so was either legal or near impossible to test for.

This is why during that period we saw robots like El G able to produce ridiculous times week after week, season after season.

Now the cheaters have to microdose or time it just right to evade detection. This would explain why performances became more inconsistant although you do see the occasional outstanding time.

Before EPO there was steroids and blood doping. Steroids always have to be cycled, whether there is testing or not. Blood doping the old fashioned way was ,as I understand it, pretty tricky and not something you could do year round. Thus you had confirmed blood dopers like Viren only running at world class standard in Olympic Games, and other widely suspected dopers such as Cova being very erratic.

Another exception might be HGH, the more effective version of which became available around the mid eighties and one thing that it apparently does is both help avoid and heal from injuries. Does seem from around the mid eighties you had guys like Said Aouita appearing who could run at their best season after season without getting injured.

Consistency has nothing to do with dope.

El G trained extremely intensely all the time, was an absolute work horse and never strayed from his goals. If he struggled in a session one day and didn't meet the ridiculous target times, he repeated the session the next day. An absolute animal always willing to give 110% and willing to make championships and races hard. Actively chasing records like the 1500, mile, 2000m and the 3000m. Pushing himself to the limit always.

Kiprop is different. Equally talented and very capable of breaking the world record, but I know from inside sources exactly why he is inconsistent.

Some is down to injury, as most people know. Another is down to his love of parties, alcohol and especially, women.

He takes his talent for granted somewhat.

Both could have been doping, one or neither; consistency really means little on that front.

It's because he was forced to microdose due to better testing and the biological profile.

As far as Kiprop looking a different speciman as Rojo noted (correctly) that's likely because it's not naturally possible for a guy that slender to be that fast at 1500.

I totally agree with you. I thought it was very suspicious how many were thrown out and not tested. I wanted to know how they decided which samples to test and which ones to just discard.
