The subject fits the latest \"profile\" of marathon cheaters. The Boston hat was classic much like with our other alleged marathon cheater. These guys seem to love to parade around in the Boston gear.
Good job, Buffalo, in winning the masters div and in getting justice, although you were robbed of the distinction of getting your deserved award at the appropriate time.

I thought it would take 5 posts for that to be addressed. What is even worse is the writer contradicts that later by noting that the BAA sets aside a percentage for charity runners. (We can debate the "small" adjective).

Athlinks is very reliable at least in the sense it is gathering published race data. If you paced a friend and finished in 3:27 then that is your time for that race. If you have another marathon showing 2:35 then it would be on there. You might need to do some explaining.
My half time was just under 1:26. I ran a 10k today in 38:20. The pace calculator puts me right at 3 hours for a marathon based on either of those. Gotta up the training I guess.
(Both of those times were on a hilly courses though.)

all on 40mpw.
You have to do the mileage to do well at the marathon.
So a 22min 5km is really unlikely to be near 3hours IMO. It's a 4hour time.

Hey W, I do not care what you believe. Here is what I know:
Buffalo Runner (Mr.Occhino) is as stand-up as they come. His story is the only truth. He told the cheater straight to his face. He contacted the race director immediately.
What else should he have done? Cry about it on Letsrun so you hairless wonders could argue about what a 19 minute 5k converts to?
He did not generate the news story nor this thread.

I wasn't laughing at you. If anything, I was laughing at myself. I don't think I could ever run a marathon as fast as you, regardless of my training. It just seems impossible to me.
I know exactly where they are on the course as that is the long bring over the swamp at about mile 16 (these are my stomping grounds). Here is the times of the two guys he is with:

Yet another cheater claiming 3:11-3:12. Is that because cheaters figure that is the fastest they can get way with without people noticing?
It is very odd that so many cheaters pick the same range--a little over 3:10. It must be that "this sounds impressive on social media, but not so impressive that it will sound suspicious" range.
