This is an interesting comment, because I am a first generation American, with parents from Ireland, and numerous Irish aunts and uncles in the US. They have been here for 50 plus years, so are very well adjusted, normal Americans.

They do it out of ignorance. Many don't know better after having their cultures stripped from them and the white ways taught to them.

I am thrilled that someone on this board actually has some brains and a backbone to stand up for what they believe in. I absolutely loved your wording and could not have said it better myself. Society in America has gotten extremely wimpy, everybody complaining and now everyone makes the team. Life was harder (but better) for all of us back before political correctness started ruining every aspect of our lives. If these wimpy Indians only have a name to worry about, then obviously their lives are pretty wonderful and perfect. My tribe (which is in Arizona) has more important things to worry about like getting clean water to drink. That's right, we don't even have clean water. You don't hear any of us moaning about the Redskins. That's the least of our worries. The Oneidas and other politically correct punks are just fake overpriviledged Indians that wouldn't last 1 day on my rez.

Zirin's article ignores Reilly's most salient points (i.e. Native American high schools naming themselves 'Redskins') and instead chooses to nitpick with his anecdotal evidence. Its really not that well thought out.

Reilly nit-picked the schools that have chosen to keep the Redskins name and ignored all those which have changed their names.

The students and faculty in the schools Reilly mentioned need a history lesson.
