Rutger Hauer's farewell in Bladerunner.
Rutger Hauer's farewell in Bladerunner.
Obviously, I am the only teenager here, but Will Smith's scene in Fresh Prince when he realizes his dad is stepping out of his life again makes me cry.
It is a very sad scene. You could really feel that all Will wanted was for his dad to be with him but for some reason his dad couldn't show up.
Maybe not the best, but these came to mind and aren't mentioned yet.
The end of American History X
The end / twist of Atonement
LOL at the spoiler hate for Harry Potter. What is that, like 5 years old? Hey, spoiler alert, Rosebud is his childhood sled.
1. little girl in the red dress in Schindler's List
2. Little boy losing his father in Braveheart
3. The mother putting her two little kids to bed knowing Titanic is sinking in Titanic
pretty much any scene where little kids get hurt or get killed gets me.

he said saddest, not funniest.
End of "life is beautiful."
End of "Toy Story".
Not sure on the order.
Bedroom scene from Troll 2. Hands down saddest acting ever.
When Izzy/the tree dies in The Fountain.
When the Flower Girl recognizes the Little Tramp, in City Lights.
The end scene of "The Champ".
The scene in Rocky IV where Apollo Creed fights Ivan Drago.

What about when Micky died?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpfgrsJgN2kHighlander. Duncan McCloud is immortal. Him and his wife grow old together. She flips out on him, because she is old he is still young as they first met. She dies and he is shattered wandering the earth a empty man.
When John Coffey dies in The Green Mile

The End of "Life is Beautiful" is happy and heart-warming.
It's the part shortly before the end that is really sad.
Great movie.
As I was writing it, saying the "end" didn't feel write. My bad.
Indeed! Best dad ever.

Absolutely. "time to die" so much
false start there ...
The "time to die" so much more than the "tears in the rain." After he's described all the amazing things he's seen and done and he he has time for is dying.
The inevitible Pistorius "Blade Runner" movie will be sad in its entirety.

Lol good call. Great film.
I'm thinking of Charlie Chaplin's "The Kid," when the orphanage & police take the kid away from The Tramp. But Dustin Hoffman's court defense in Kramer Vs. Kramer is on my short list too, so maybe for some reason that's a poignant subject to me.
