Correct.

good news is that ajee wilson beat poistogova at the line, getting some revenge for getting punched in the final at moscow. sub 2 for ajee, still not bad

That was the most bizarre 800m I've seen.

First 400m as expected. Rabbit with Montano behind her.

Rabbit doesn't drop out and keeps going to 600. However at 600 she doesn't step off the track she stays in lane 2 and the field has to go around her.

Montano wans't running her normal type race and Ajee Wilson and Sum came by right before 600m.

They lead onto the homestretch with Montano right behind.

Montano then goes wide to start kicking. Sum starts pulling away but Montano is gaining. SHe's in lane 2, then she's in lane 3, then she's in lane4, finally she ends up in lane 5 even thought SUm is in lane 1 and no on else is in front of them.

Montano definitely would have won the race if she stayed in lane 1. I've never seen anything like it.

Looks to me like Sum has got Montano's number. I guess I'm joining the chorus urging Alysia to modify her game plan. I'd also say that Ajee got some revenge, except I don't think she has a vengeful bone in her body.

I don't think you saw the race. Totally bizarre. Montano wins if she stays in lane 1. I've never seen anything like it.

Definitely a long-long season for Hasay. She needs to pull the plug. Hopefully this is her last race this season.

She went out too slow and this is what happens. She could never win opening in 57 she is just incapable of developing the endurance. Also the kenyan had another gear montano wouldnt have caught up anyways.

Terrible tactics

Hasay is a few years away from being Diamond league material. Get the mileage in lady.

I actually think her race strategy is good opening up in a low 56/ high 55, she just didnt have it in moscow if she ran her p.r. Which was achieved with her splits she would of been a close second. She said she and her coach where training her last 50, maybe they messed up the workouts, her opening up in 57. mid??? Basically kills her only advantage,

I mean we saw what happened when solomon only went out in 50:xx he died although he did run a 143 prelim and a opening 200 of 23 low. If he takes it through in 49 mid than solomon medals instead of symmonds

55 is not better than 57. going out harder means you fade more...you don't seem to get that.

what the competition does is another story

solomon died because he ran 1:43 in the semis and cooked his goose. then he went out too hard in the final. he tried to go out in 49 but couldnt, so if he had, he would have finished even worse

also, symmonds got silver, so he wouldnt necessarily be out of a medal if solomon was better

Everyone pretty much lost some behind the rabbit. Was this her first job at it? Martinez never looked in the race. It was fun to see Alysia racing in a pack up front. Speed wobbles at the end maybe?

You've gotta be kidding. Other than her unlucky traffic-avoiding gambit, which cost her almost no time at all, she ran exactly the way you idiots always wanted her to. 200 slower than 27, 400 slower than 57, enough energy left at the end to pass people. If she'd gotten by Sum, you'd all be crowing about how it's better to run 57.5 and 61.3 than 56.0 and 61.9. Never mind if the final result is a full second slower.

About drifting wide, in lane 5, for an 84 meter straight the distance is sqrt(4.8^2 + 84^2) = 84.14, a whopping 14 centimeters extra distance. At 6.5 m/s (61 second pace) that's .02 seconds. Very rarely does that decide an 800, and the advantage gained from being in the clear is usually worth it. Or have you forgotten poor Ajee in Moscow already? Too bad she didn't go to lane 5.

But I guess you can't expect marathoners to know how far the break from lane 5 is. Even from the outside of lane 8 it's just an extra half meter. Not even a tenth of a second.

I don't want to be mean about it, but this is grade-school math. Compared even to running on someone's shoulder in a turn, a wide straight is nothing.

Don't make me humiliate you Montano-haters further. This time you should all quickly admit you're wrong and save face.
