I was at a USATF distance running clinic this weekend and had the privilege of sitting through two 2-hour sessions with Joe Vigil. Amazing coach and super person. He showed us the BBC feed of Bendas's race and was ecstatic. I wish I could have run for him.
Yes, and looking back, the college rookie Mammoth picked over Martinez, Angela Bizzarri, only lasted a year with the club and is barely hanging on in the sport. Mammoth itself seems to be turning into a jogging club with most of their elites past their prime/leaving.

Both seem very talented and great racers. I hope they get a chance to have some awesome competitions between them.
I think its most likely they realized she has as stick up her butt. Chick has angriest look on her face for all of college.
She probably doesn't have 5 pounds of fat to burn off
Coaches may have given her that excuse when rejecting her when the real reason was something else entirely. Rumors of major drama with her, the boyfriend and coach at UCR did not make her seem like an attractive addition to any group.

Hindsight is 20/20 - coming out of college Bizzarri looked like a huge talent (remember she just beat Sally Kipyego - who has not done to bad for herself.) Its easy to act like something is a foregone conclusion now. Also who knows how the interview process went - maybe Irv Ray called and told those clubs to stay away. At the end of the day, she is where she is now because she did find the right environment, maybe that wouldn't have happened if she had been picked up by someone else.
Irv Ray is great at doing that to people.
Where is Bizarri?
Did she race this year?
