I'm a liberal. I support gay rights, marijuana decriminalization and universal healthcare. I am also highly critical of Islam, specifically the aspects of which endorse jihadism and the abuse of women. I am not in the least surprised (or in any way "disappointed") that Monday's attackers turned out to be radical Muslims. Like most people on these boards, I oppose terrorist actions, irrespective of their origins.

If you need to blow off steam, try bashing the a$$holes who committed these atrocious crimes. They deserve it. If you want to explore the undeniable connection between radical Islam and terrorism, by all means, engage--but do so intelligently and without insinuating that all Muslims are criminals. I'm a conservative (more Libertarian, actually) who supports treating gays just like anyone else and marijuana decriminalization. Can't go with you on healthcare, although I know some reform is needed. I am highly critical of knee-jerk, right-wing idiots and I think Timothy McVeigh and his ilk are just as evil as any Muslim terrorist. While I believe a majority of Muslims are sympathetic to the more radical wing of their religion and if push came to shove they would side with their terrorist brothers, I don't think all Muslims are criminals.
From the conservative perspective, liberals tend to be more apologetic about Muslim radicalism, and in fact have been known to blame America for Muslim terrorism against the West. I believe Obama falls into this category. In an effort to be seen as open-minded, moderate and accepting of all ways of life, liberals often deliberately overlook what is right in front of their face. When it comes to protecting our nation and way of life, we think it's logical to look at the usual suspects when a homemade IED goes off, and we don't care if that opens us up to the charge of "profiling".
