1. Going to be difficult to prove mens rea with these facts.
2. Maybe he has a sleep disorder?
3. Paranoid people, sleep/darkness, and guns are never a good mix.
4. "An armed society is a polite society."
5. Prior "domestic incidents" being reported, "reckless behavior" including wrecking his seed boat.
6. He has a roommate at the house, an MMA guy, but just shoots first and sorts it out AFTER turning the lights on?

T.Rex, I would like to start a fund to send you to South Africa as part of a Reality TV show and see how long you last without a gun. This story is still devoloping but saying 'nobody should have a gun' would not go over well with the criminal element in SA.

She probably comes to his house earlier, they argue, she leaves OR SHE DOES\\\'NT (let\\\'s have the police roll the security tape from the gated entrance to the general estates) (and roll Oscar\\\'s tapes to boot, showing her entry with a key).
She returns at 4am and he shoots her.
Either he argued with her again and shot her intentionally, or as some bravado and accidentally hit her = murder
Or he fires 4 shots at an intruder entering his home, with a key (no signs of forced entry) and without any warning or call out \\\"who\\\'s there?\\\"
So you gotta ask yourself, at 4am do ya think it is a girlfriend with a key coming back, or a robber with a key coming in when they know you are at home?
Either way it is manslaughter and jail at least. Murder at worst. And all you legal eagles, it ain\\\'t trespassing if she\\\'s got a key.
Okay so there was a way to preclear your visitors by registering them and then they could be texted a securuty code of the day,

I have a friend in SA. They live in constant fear of their safety and the safety of their children. They have been hijacked several times. The criminals there are very violent and way more likely to hurt or kill you than most US criminals who are trying to steal your stuff.
I also have no idea what really happened with Pistorius and his gf, but the idea that he would shoot someone he thought was an intruder four times is very plausible.
Tragic either way.
So many black on white murders, it's not really surprising he would think it was an intruder.

Your going to have to have some really sick lawyer to claims insomnia, sleeping pills etc. Good luck with that.

I said, "My God, wouldn't you try to scare them away first?"
Him: "No. what if they kill me first."
Me: "What happens if you had hit him?"
He's like "We'd bury the body on the farm."
Latest reports were that shots happened at 3AM.

this is why guns are so useful when you feel threatened. kill the threat first, ask questions of your loved one because you were too much of an idiot to ask before shooting later.

If you've been to So Africa, even Cape Town, you know why you need lots of weapons living in a house. Gangs would break in to rob, attack & kill you & your kids & rape your lady. Happened to my friend there, who had to shoot his way out driving off while they shot at him like in movies!
