Anyway, I've been inspired by this thread to grow a beard again. The only really annoying issue is family gatherings, since my mom will constantly bug me and get my aunts to bug me about shaving my beard.

As for being a homophobe. No way, man. I am a lover of women and have a very hot GF, but - wait for it - I have several gay friends. Seriously, I do. My sister's former boss at her salon is gay. He's become a family friend. Slightly embarrassing fact: my sister says he once told her he would drink my bathwater. That was tough to hear and still hang around him as a very hetero guy, but I just let it go and was still his friend. He's a great guy. He moved away to another state and couldn't come for Thanksgiving this year. I got his number, texted him and told him I was bummed we wouldn't see him.

You might consider not framing your insults in terms of sexuality in the future, then. Would you talk that way around your gay friends?

To which insults do you refer? I've thrown out quite a few in this thread, mostly in my own defense or the defense of other clean-shaven, straight men.

I don't differentiate the way I talk based on a person's sexual preference. In real life (which is different from the anonymous online world in which we are meeting), I use discretion in the presence of women and children, in business situations and in polite company, but otherwise I talk the same way around everyone. To do otherwise is patronizing and insulting to those with whom I am communicating.
