I think she earned the spot. This decision smacks of spite. No other way around it. They could be magnanimous and work with her. And let's not forget how unprofessional and political USATF coaches are. Not a great record with relays...do you trust them? I don't.

Best comment thus far. EXACTLY Just because you finished 3rd does not mean you are the best person for the relay. Any serious track athlete should know that. Tarmoh was given an equal chance just as Felix to run off and make the team. No one forced her off. She's feeling sorry for herself and not owning up to the fact that it was a mistake not to run-off. She's not America's top sprinter and she's not a huge factor on the relay. No one really cares about Tarmoh. Once the Olympics ends we will all forget she existed.

There was a better way to resolve this situation--she could have never been named to the relay in the first place. Good reasons could have been given at that time, as I suggested a long time ago. She would have complained at that time, but by now everybody would have forgotten.
Instead they wrongly named her to the team, saw her flame in Monaco, had to put up with her increasingly toxic b.s. until this time, at which point there is no way she could possibly functionally be named to the team.

When will people grow up? It's a fairly simple matter of human behavior. She didn't deserve the second chance of the Olympics, it was too soon and too close. She was bound to toxify the team, and to come out swinging against what she sees as injustice, the same as any other person having the emotional maturity of a petulant 11-14 year-old.
The Tard-mo' saga continues. Good for the relay, though, now they have a shot at winning. And I remember Knight having run a killer turn on a previous relay, one of the best I thought I'd ever seen.

Confused here!! Please help!! 1. How does USATF determine who is on the team? If it's the 4 fastest runners + 1 or 2 alternates....then shouldn't it be the fastest 5 or 6 athletes. 2. If it's about who can run relays the best.....well then have a team that is solely dedicated to the event all year long. 3. I think as a starting place....you want want your fastest 4 runners in the final....I mean seriously, all these ladies have run hundreds of relays throughout their lives....they just need a bit of time together. 4. Was the decision made in the last 24-48 hours? These decisions should be made and discussed prior to the OLY games...right? USATF is the biggest F'N joke!!!
