Outrage against NBC Builds and Builds....

I don't understand why I need to be a cable subscriber to view NBC's online coverage. Aren't they showing ads online? Surely they make more money from me watching their stream than not watching.

The NBC f*ckery has been one of the highlights of the games for me. The ineptness of it all and the consistent outrage. Highly entertaining.

Of course I have the BBC bending over backwards for me so it's easy to sit back and laugh.

You have to be a subscriber because they don't offer their product to people who don't pay for it. NBC paid $1 billion for the right to broadcast 18 days of the Olympics. They're not going to give anything away for free. Everyone should remember that they're running a business.

Also, apply your statement to literally any other consumer product and listen to how ridiculous it sounds. "I don't understand why I need to pay for my meal in order to eat it." "I don't understand why I need to be a gym member in order to use their facilities."

It is great that I know Chevy is selling cars at a REALLY REALLY Low Price. I mean the price is so low, you will be shocked and tell the dealor that is the amount you are willing to pay and not a penny more. I am glad I drive a Toyota.

I've only seen about 4 companies advertise during the olympics.. Chevy, BMW, P&G and TDameritrade.... dont know how much money you can suck out of 4 sponsors..

I feel compelled to join in on the outrage over the NBC Olympic Track and Field coverage. I have been seething over how they refused to show the 100M final live on Sunday. On the primetime coverage, Sunday night, they kept teasing it the so I gave up.

Monday saw more Men's volleyball and then they did air the women's 3000M Steeple about 20 min late.

Not showing the Mens 1500M final, today live is another outrage.

The sad part is that they only have NBCSports as the full time network. NBC, CNBC and MsnNBC are part time. MsnNBC shows boxing. Nothing on Bravo or Universal at all.

I live in the Detroit area market,and we used to get CBC's Olympic coverage but the Windsor market did not telecast any Olympic coverage this year. I suppose NBC struck some deal with CBC in Windsor to carry the games to the Canadian side, not sure but I know it is not available.

I agree that NBC should not do the 2016 Games. I think each network should take a turn in the future.

Huh? Do you just not get how advertisements work, or what? Network television has worked on a "free" model for decades.

The more people watch the online stream, the more money NBC makes from advertisers.

NBC has every right to do whatever they want with their Olympic schedule because they bought the rights.

However, we also have every right to complain and moan and rant on message boards about what a terrible job they're doing.

In addition to advertising revenue, television networks are paid a per-subscriber fee by the cable companies that air the network. While you don't cut a check to NBC every month, NBC does get a cut of your cable bill.

7-8 is "prime access". 8 - 11:00 is prime time.

Huh? We want to watch it live. On the Internet. They can put ads all over it. Don't care. BUT I CAN'T because they won't allow people in the USA to watch live online unless they are a cable subscriber.

What they are doing is dumb. I can't stay up all night to watch their coverage (and commercials). I am willing to watch their coverage online WITH commercials but they won't let me.

It may not make a difference but, for all on twitter, let's all get #nbcFAIL trending around the start of the men's 1500 final today at 4:15 pm Eastern. There's no excuse for not showing this live on one of their TV networks. Let's not forget what was the very first Olympic sport.

Jesus Christ you people are thick. It's not about entitlement. Here's what we're saying: we want to watch NBC's stream live on the internet. We either don't have cable, or subscribe to the wrong cable company, so they don't let us do this.

When a person watches NBC's online coverage, NBC makes money from the advertisements they show. This isn't an act of charity, but a direct source of revenue for NBC. We are asking to provide NBC with revenue, and they're telling us "No".

Well, you know what? Too bad for NBC: since we're not able to watch their online coverage we just watch the other streams. I'm much less frustrated watching the BBC's coverage, anyway.
