by chats to him regulary do you mean, regularly annoy him on facebook chat? i wouldnt blame the guy for comming across arrogant in that circumstance. Probably just diretly answering the awkward questions your friend is asking.

You're probably full of sh!t. But frankly I hope you are right. His dad was unbelievably arrogant on the track...and an absolute blast to watch. Exactly what the sport needs is another real deal Ovett.

just out of curiosity, not doubting anything, what has he shown that makes you all so confident in his ability? the words of his father suggest he will be very fast but what has he shown in workouts at Oregon?

I don't know much about his workouts, except that he is apparently good as sticking to the scheduled workout and works well with his training partners. He ran a 1:59 in his first race at Oregon, then dropped it to around 1:52 the next go-round about two weeks later. He shows good patience, ability to listen to his coach an an extremely smooth and efficient running style. His potential is excellent, but unlike some LR posters, he is not paranoid.

This is true. His workouts have been very impressive, especially from a guy who's never done a lot of work that they do at Oregon, apart from the very fast stuff. He's only run one 800 so far, not two. He ran a 1:52, in a very congested race, where he was really all over the place, finishing super hard, wide. Then he ran that 1k, where he got shuffled back when everyone started making their moves and as a consequence, had to close extremely hard, which was impressive, coming over an OTC guy. Experience and learning about positioning etc will all be things that will hope him grow.
