A beer that represent LRC must be available nationally. So all the local microbrews don't cut it.

That includes Yuengling which is not distributed nation wide. I like it, but I can't buy in my state.

Oh wow - you MUST be right then. Because I typed "Sam Adams 26.2" into Google as you suggested, and guess what - quite a lot of hits. Pretty sure the other guy didn't need to 'create a fake link' just to prove you wrong my friend. Looks like the 'someone' who knows your friend was telling porkies

I would stay away from the main stream beers since most of those are horrible, not much flavor because they have to appease to the masses. Instead I would go with something with a bit more bite like Dogfishhead 90 min IPA.

Not exactly sure where you're headed, but the others in the area that I'd try to his would include:

Pinedale WY: Wind River Brewing: Adventure Amber Ale, Out Of Order Porter, Strom Bomb Stout (Second favorite stout in the world behind black widow)

Lander WY: Lander Brewing Company: Rock Chuck Rye, Jack Mormon Pale, Old No. 7 Stout

There's also a brew fest coming up "in the area"

Other breweries that I haven't been to in a while that were good include Big Sky Brewery, Red Lodge Ales, Bohemian Brewery, Teton Ales...In reality there are a tone of great micro brews in the mountain west (Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado).

Best brewery to actually go to is "the garage," (Yellowstone Brewery) in Billing MT. I think you are limited to "a taste" (3 growlers) under their license, but they always have great live music and really top-notch brews.

Absolute best brew to my pallet is that OB-1 though, and don't accept the recommendation for the Wyoming Pale Ale. Although the concept is cool (all the Wyoming micro breweries collaborated and it's made of only Wyoming ingredients), I think it's result is from the common mistake of having too many cooks in the kitchen. I would have rather seen a competition at the Lander Brew Fest and the winner sell the recipe to the other breweries.

To end the whole 26.2 debate, I went on the Sam Adams Tour last Saturday and sampled the 26.2.

It is only about 3-4% alcohol because they felt the runners would get hammered post race (don't see the problem there?) and it comes of a bit fruity. I like it though. I ordered one later that night on tap at Remy's.

PBR is the only option for a pure genuine beer for Letsrun. It has everything that letsrun represents: Its patriotic, smooth, tasteful, and cheap.

PBR will run this nation and we will all salute to the Red, Blue, and Silver can of PBR

PBR is a good choice for all reasons stated above. and im surprised nobody has mentioned this one: a certain NIKE was originally named Blue Ribbon Sports after... you guessed it- Pabst Blue Ribbon

Yes, this! Yuengling is an excellent working class beer. America's Oldest Brewery in the heart of coal country Pennsylvania. I grew up 10 minutes from the brewery.

They should make a new beer called "We Are All Slow Runners Ale" and that would be the official beer of Letsrun.
