Galen Rupp's yearly salary

I haven't seen it mentioned in this thread or really any others since the USADA report leaked, but one of the nuggets that I found most interesting was about Ritz's salary.

Mentioned that he was due $200k for a year for certain appearances/races, and felt pressured to take the iv to meet those standards. Salary was cut in half if they weren't met.

If Ritz was due to realistically make 200k, Rupp has got to be over 750k plus bonuses/prizes.

I am a high school xc coach and the two main runners that my athletes talk about is Kipchoge and Rupp.

I bet/hope Nike is also taking good care of Jordan. It seems to me that she is quite marketable - all the girls on our HS XC team know who she is...

Your on crack. I was a Hs runner last year and I have no idea who you just mentioned. Our entire hs guys team knew who galen was and revere him as a god.

Mo makes way more money than Galen. He's endorsed also by Virgin and Quorn Foods and a few others. His commercials run every day in prime time in the UK, and there are billboards all over London with his face on them. He's estimated to make between £3m and £5m per year on endorsements, which is about $4m to $6m+ (depending on fx).

The comment above is years old and while I don't disagree with the comment above regarding Chris Solinsky and respect him a great deal, I have to laugh thinking he let somebody (Imane Merga?) push him off the track and into a flowerpot on the infield.

True, Rupp's look may not be the most marketable, his races are and probably pulls more quite a bit these days. My guess, over 500 K , maybe more .

Don't forget that running is an international sport and the runners at his level are world famous not just American famous.

All I can think is that this is what drives Nike's marketing strategy.
