I ran 9:20 for two miles as a freshman. It only placed me second in the conference. Yes, at some level I intuited I could run pretty well, and went on to run much faster in my later high school years, but since Eric Hulst would have beaten me by 100 meters in his ninth grade year, well, I wasn't that special and knew it. No need to hype any 9th grader.
Your forgetting a stud of a freshman from Blue Springs, MO. He posted a 9:35 3200 pretty early in the season and still has room to improve. His name is Stephen Mugeche.

Talented kid, but I didn't technically forget him: he just didn't make the top 20 (I don't remember if he was #21 or not.. he probably was at least #23)

Elijah Armongstrong won the freshman boys mile in 4:18 in NYC at the armory. Seen it with my own eyes!

For those that think "progression" is where its at, it looks like Khosla's progression turned into a regression for Khosla running 9:45 for 11th at Florida 3A State Meet.
But that takes nothing away from his prior 9:35 as far as I am concerned.
In other notes, Nick Diaz (Frosh) ran 4:22 in the 1600 at the 4A State Meet in FL.
9:45 is still an awesome time for 9th grade. He's got a great future ahead.
The Tooley kid from Oregon ran 4:01 on Friday night at the Nike/Jesuit relays.

There's a freshman up here that has run 9:44 for Kodiak HS. (Trevor Dunbar's HS). With the latitude adjustment that's easily worth a 9:20.

I do hope he comes down to the continental states to get some more competition at some point, though.
