Derrick, Rupp and Lagat Will Represent the US in the Olympic 5K

So is it safe to say that there is a consensus here that says Derrick will probably make the 10K for the OT, but the 5K is a long shot... not that I agree, because frankly look at the score board (this year n00bs)

No. Derrick will not make it for either this go around. Next time, he will make the 10,000.

This year's 10,000 will have Rupp for sure, Ritz for sure, and either Solinsky or Teg or both, plus other talents like Bobby Curtis. Derrick might be able to take Bobby Curtis, but he will not beat the others.

In the 5000, it sounds like Ritz is out. Not sure about Rupp. Lagat's in. Rupp is probably in (definitely in if he runs), I would guess Teg or Solinsky will run. At least one of Teg/Solinsky/Rupp I would imagine will run and qualify. Probably two of them, which will complete the team. If only one runs, then Derrick will have to beat Bumbalough, Jager, Hill, Estrada, Fernandez (ha), Heath (who bangs better off of championship pace than Derrick does), etc. I think Derrick would take all of these except Bumbalough, who beat him handily at last year's USATF, and Jager, who is something of a wild card but crazy talented and supposedly healthy.
