Fool, El G has the world record at 3:26.00. Lagat ran a 3:26.34 I believe be the second fastest individual over 1500m. I also believe this is the third fastest 1500m ever run.

You don't know much about the sport, do you? Sub 8:15 is NOT easy for any American, and certainly not Galen Rupp. It is easiest for Lagat, but he is now past his prime and it is no longer a joke for him, although he can do it, even indoors. Rupp is not the type of runner who can run fast by himself and he'll have to for the last part of this race. Rupp doesn't have the balls to do it, and yet I am not disparaging him, as VERY few people do, and so it is no surprise that he doesn't.

Actually what makes me skeptical he will do it is in thinking why does he even want to do it? If running 8:10 for a 2K in February was the end all be all of what he is training for, then he can definitely do it. But obviously his goal is running the best 10K in August that he can. If you are preparing for the Olympics it should almost be a badge of honor that you don't run that great in the indoor season. Look at Centrowitz last year.

Idiot, Solinsky did NOT run 26:58, and furthermore, Rupp led very little of that race, perhaps 6 laps at most, and of course he wasn't able to go with Solinsky. Rupp has some guts, but not the type of guts to be a world beater, and certainly not the type requisite to chasing records by yourself.

First of all, Ritz has run faster at 5000m than Galen, and it isn't even close. Second, I don't think 8:15 is out of reach for Galen. He could have done it last year, and maybe could even do it tomorrow in a field which could pull him along (assuming he didn't fall). But those ingredients won't be there tomorrow, so he won't run faster than 8:15.

He needs to be pulled along with better pacers. Definitely capable though with the right pacing.
